Help Please - A tale of 2 pax

I am hoping for some help from the board on solving my current dilemma. My mother and I are traveling together and were on flight 1095 IAH-LAX which was first delayed because of delayed inbound aircraft. We then waited 1 1/2 while they cleaned and catered; then boarded and waited some more while they were getting on late connecting pax, bags, etc. When we arrived at IAH, we checked in at E since we had to have our bags interlined (CO to BR to CX). The check in agent was to put it nicely, overwhelmed by the interlining. She had to redo it because she missed the last leg of the journey. She had both mine and my mom's full itinerary and I agreed to let all 3 bags be on my PNR (BIG MISTAKE ON MY PART) to simplify her life.

We arrived at LAX and were told to go to ticketing as they were expecting us. I handed over my boarding pass, was given a hotel voucher, food voucher, and was told I was rebooked on NW and then CX - great - have to overnight in Hong Kong now, but still not the end of the world. Then we give the agent my mom's PNR and it only shows her IAH-LAX portion - nothing else because the agent didn't link my mom's - only mine. The agent said he could do nothing and that we now need to call EVA. I've called CO and they only see her IAH-LAX portion. EVA is sold out on the next flights and I'm unsure what my options are at this point.

Any help is greatly appreciated. We were flying first IAH-LAX; Premium Laurel on EVA LAX-HKG and First HKG-XMN. The HKG-XMN portion is no problem but I am trying to solve the LAX-HKG portion. Lack of sleep isn't helping Any help or suggestions are GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!

Who told you that you need to call EVA, a CO agent at LAX? I assume your tickets were booked as one itinerary and not as separate tickets for IAH-LAX, LAX-HKG, etc. If that is the case, call CO and have them take care of everything, as you missed your EVA flight due to a the delayed IAH-LAX CO flight.

Yes, it was a CO agent at LAX who told me to call EVA. Yes, our flights were booked separate IAH-LAX on Co.Com; LAX-HKG on Eva.com. I gave her the paperwork to link the reservations and she did mine - but not my mom's. I called CO and they said because the check in agent did not add my mom's flights to the PNR, they can't do anything because they don't show anything. EVA opens in an hour and 10 minutes so I've worked a few scenarios to make this work (All EVA flights are sold out of LAX today and tomorrow)

Wow, what a mess. I don't have any advice. Just want to wish you good luck.

And if you get stuck in HKG and need recommendations for anything, let us know.

IMHO you are lucky that CO agreed to do anything for you on the one linked ticket. Since there are two PNRs, one for CO and one for EVA, they really didn't have to.

GOOD LUCK! Enjoy your trip!

I think the agent segment sold your eva reservation so she could check your bag in. As for your Eva flight the reservation probably cancelled because you no showed the flight. Y didn't you just call Eva let them know of the situation before hand. Your flight out of IAH left 3 hours late.

this is part of why you should always book complex itins on a single pnr ( you can book the original part on co.com and ask the agent to add in the additional flights. Thats the
only way co incurs the responsibility of being the delivering carrier..

But it's more fun to have 3 pnrs

I do this several times a year - never have had the issues I did the past 24 hours. I have trip interuption insurance for events like this.

I did call EVA from Houston - at that point we weren't 3 hours late. Weather made the flight 1:23 late; they took 1:35 to clean and cater; then waited so others could board (misconnects coming through IAH). Then waited on the runway. It happens - I expect weather delays - the cleaning delay - don't get it (and the plane was not THAT clean).

Yes, CO was great with the hotel (hey, isn't Larry on the Marriott board - why are they parking me at the LAX moldy Hilton?) and breakfast voucher (which I still need to use) but I think it was clear this was beyond just weather.

I would have been more than happy to rebook EVA myself - CO told me to go to ticketing and that they were waiting for me, which I did - and they said I was rebooked on NW. I booked a flight for my mom in J on NW - got to NW, they said it was a paper ticket (although CO at 2:30 A.M. said it was E and four follow up calls confirmed that) - I needed to go to CO to get the paper ticket - got on the phone and CO confirmed that - went to CO and they said - no, it's an E tix- EVA needs to deal with it. Missed the NW flight - cancelled my EVA tix - as they have no flights out except for SEA early tomorrow so booked KE.

The upside? I am at the LAX PClub with the finest staff (Jan and Ricardo are working), free wireless and free drinks. No sleep? Who cares At 1:30 a.m. I'll be able to sleep on KE for a few hours and am only losing a day. I had some moments (okay, some hours) of frustration. I think CO could have done some things better - but I have to say in my five years of CO, the relationship is still strong and I'm not looking for other partners

Well, you have a great attitude. And it does help to be flying in F. Imagine someone with a discount coach ticket...

Oh, so true! My attitude may turn sour if I was in the back

When I checked in at KE, I was asked how many miles I'd flown on CO this year - isn't that a bit of an odd question? As I'm at around 99k, no gold star was given. Perhaps if I'd been over the 100k mark?
