If time (urgency) isn't a factor, sounds like a good plan ^

For my site visit to middle-of-nowhere, deep south, I've discovered the time and reimbursed cost of the following two options are the same:

* Driving 10 hours each way,
* Driving the hour to the airport and flying but only getting EQM for 4 * 500 mile segments (two each way).

Does the Box suggest driving and putting the extra $400 above car operating costs into maintenance or flying?

Was just looking at the COPA Air and thought it interesting that they still list the NWA lounges as accessable by the President's Club members. OOPS!!

Is that really a question? Fly. A 10 hour drive isn't worth it, especially with the wear on your car. If a rental it is MAYBE a bit better but still not a good idea.

Ten hour drives sometimes turn into 25 hour drives. This is a fail for driving!!

OMG - Ford cannot figure out the proper size for a throw-our bearing for my vehicle.

+1. I'd never even think twice about flying over driving 20 hours round trip.

Flights can be just as easily delayed with a blizzard or such. But voluntarily subjecting oneself to that much driving when there are other options available seems foolhardy at best.

flying, plus you keep the miles off of your car.

Try SeatCounter. It should give you an idea of whether the front cabin is booked up.

I tried putting the flights in, but I couldn't pull up the flights :confused:

Oh dear. I forgot you were going the weekend before, too. Visit CA for passport - nice!

As you are going to PTY on the 20th, you can be our reconnaisence (sp?) scout...:D

I considered the rental idea as well. And my car's been very reliable for the first 189,000 miles of its life before this transmission issue.

The time's the same and the four flights are on Barbie jets, so the car would be more comfortable and I could probably get more work done  I could at least use the phone ;)

Worried about depreciation on a 1998 Ford Escort with 189,000 miles?

TRUE!

Seats in exit rows no assigned for both weekends. I now just need the proper documentation for the trip and I am set!!

Still don't want to put the miles on the car, far easier to just fly. No reason to encourage the need for repairs when it can otherwise be avoided.
