Picky point, but in the first sentence you state that there are "more than one thousand students." Now you simply say "those one thousand students." Which is it?

Picky point acknowledged. "more than" revised to "about".

Personal point, but I'd change "my country" to "this country." (Unless you service was not given to the United States of America)

Declined. I have spoken at length with the committee chair, and she has a son in the Army. She will understand the usage, and that matters the most. Further, not enough people (IMHO) value what living in America means. That is part of why I get such a thrill out of the material, but it is also far too activist of a position to easily explain in an essay format. I use the construction "my country" deliberately out of pride and conviction.

I just read this post on non-refundable tickets: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/9674698-post51.html and still am a bit  as to what to do.

Here are the details:

I bought my sister a non-refundable ticket to LAS and she wasn't able to make it due to some medical . I spoke to the elite line and they said they would waive the $150 change fee and she would be able to rebook travel with the full ticket value. The two issues are that 1) the ticket is non-transferable and 2) she doesn't travel often

What's my best course of action here? Thanks in advance!

Sounds like get the credit that you can and hope sister will use it, not much choice.

Make it clear that said credit has a shelf life and should not be wasted. :-:

I've booked at the Sheraton Suites - taking Mr.Brit, LittleMissBrit and two friends and making an evening of it - swimming, etc. They will leave after I go to the airport at 4am!

I'm still waiting for my notification from you of another MSP-GEG fare. Canceled my first intended BD fare last night to use a residual WN credit instead (and put a net $260 credit back on the AmEx).

Put me on the list for notifications .....:D

Agree! We were so happy and excited to finally get our citizenship in 2006 after living here for 11 years. We are so grateful to have been given the opportunity to live in this wonderful country, and do not take anything for granted here.

If nothing else, the building inspector makes Mrs. Brit wax eloquently on certain tenets of freedom of speech. :D
