This is my second stay. The hotel itself is not bad. It's like an Embassy Suites, but with a kitchen. The reason for my  is the fact that, once again, as hard as I try to get away from Hilton, I can't seem to do it. The nearest Starwood property is in Santa Monica.

You must be working deep in the valley...

That's why I escaped to SoCal ever so briefly over the weekend. It was so nice being in mid-70s weather again.

Boy howdy it has changed...

I don't normally drink Pepsi unless forced, but the allure of real sugar being used is too much of a temptation.

That storm in SFO yesterday was a doozie when we landed. I took my umbrella out while on the tarmac at SFO and had to put it away once the sideways rain and the wind gusts rendered it useless.

And of course, when we left two hours later it was sunny and all was nice in the world.

Really leaving now... Night all.

Between the contract this state agency has (can't be reimbursed if I buy Coke with state funds) and my Berkshire holdings, I do refuse to buy Pepsi. I will drink non-Coke products like 7-Up but my office fridge is known as the place to go to not support Pepsi in the vending machines.

Fortunately my company is too small to be able to negotiate rates with any travel providers, so I'm pretty much left alone to book as I please, within budget of course. We have a policy of no C/J except for anything over 8 hours, but there are a few of us that get an exception to that for Europe travel because of our extensive road schedules.

I must be calibrating by my old corporate trainer habits - between my travel and shipping a dozen laptops and equipment, $10k a month wasn't out of the question (and I was still the cheapest traveler).

The only thing in the Pepsi vending machines at work that I will buy with any regularity is Mountain Dew, and that's more because I don't drink coffee and Mtn Dew has a good bit of caffeine to get me going (if I really need caffeine, I'll grab some tea). Fortunately, my floor has a Coke machine instead of a Pepsi one.

I was sent IAD-LHR to avoid being allowed to fly J; was based upon stage length.
