3 shows at the Shell. What makes more sense -- paying $250 for 2 questionable tix in LA (poor venue) or $75 each for great seats in Waikiki. My former boss and I met there last year -- GF couldn't go. With a $350 flight from LAX, it is so damn cheap you have to do it... ^

Fins up!

My most special show was driving from CLE to East Hampton for one of his Montessori benefits shows. This one was the one a month after 9/11. I thought I was crazy for paying $500 for the 2nd row seats, but the show, and the circumstances, made it that much more special.

Not feeling love yet...

Long way to go. I won't be joining you.

I can appreciate that there have been wonderful experiences by many people in Hawaii and even in HNL, I suppose. But I am not one of them. I've now been to HNL once with my wife and 3 more times on my own. It is a crappy place (preferred term is TOS violation). I've slowly found a few things to do/see/eat that make it a bit better, but the overall experience is one of kitsch and other annoyances. If it weren't for the very cheap miles I'd have no reason to go back to HNL ever again I think.

I'm not around long enough for the milestone.

March 2009 show was probably my best. I have been to 3 Waikiki shows, 2 San Francisco area shows, 5 Las Vegas shows, and one in Arizona.

Total miles flown for shows: 20,000... RDM = 26,000.

All good reasons, particularly A-X. I think Y is wrong. Z gets a lot of points, too.

From a very abstract/absolute/withdrawn/neutral perspective HNL is not a good beach. It is generally overpriced hotels, overpriced food and not much to do. Where is the value in HNL as a destination.

There are many outside influences that can make it seem great, but absolutely speaking it isn't, IMO.

I just realized that one of my socks was inside-out all day long. I am very bothered by this discovery.

Just from that one trip, we both said HNL is nice for a quick visit, but that's about it. Almost too touristy (and I know there's lots of the island we didn't see). That's why the next time there is a quickie visit. Rather enjoy the sights and scenery of Maui (and explore other islands)

We'll talk in a couple of weeks -- we really love Waikiki despite the bad stuff...
