Morning, Box.

Just spent a couple of hours in Lake Brit - which is now a big hole in teh ground. Soil engineer did his tests - told me the ground is solid enough to build the next El Birgh or whatever that biggest skyscraper in the world in UAE is called!

So, that's good news, right?

Next hurdle is Mr. Rotten-miserable-I'm keeping-you-waiting-six-weeks-because-I'm-too-lazy-to-look-at-whole-house-plans-Inspector. He is scheduled to do his inspection this afternoon. If he doesn't turn up, I'll be a very unhappy bunny.

How much do you pay for your flickr account?

I believe the pro account is $29/year.

Yeah, that's usually what I do as well. I also rarely upload pictures of people...

That is exactly my problem, too!

Does Kayak not include CO now?

It gives NO results for CO on several routes.

Of course not. The UK M&S is one of my favourite stores!

I shopped at M&S all the time when I lived in the UK.

In fact, it has taken me nearly 15 years of living here to get used to not buying my knickers at M&S :eek::eek:

I was always partial to Harvey Nichols and Jenner's. M&S always had a great grocery section, though.

Their food section is great.

What route? Kayak was working fine for me yesterday.

I'm guessing you need a AUS-HOU line? :)

I still need to figure out if that trip is doable...

It was very convenient (but pricey) when I lived near Princes Street in Edinburgh. When I moved towards The Meadows, my convenient selections for groceries dwindled to Sainsburys and Tesco.

Did you know that M&S, in essence, is the UK version of Wal-mart from a vendor perspective?

They stipulate every last thing - packaging, ink content, type of flour that is used, number of items in a package, etc. etc. just like Wal-Mart.

An old flame of mine - his father owned a large bakery that produced all the pies, cakes, sweet pastries, etc. for M&S. They were a very difficult company to work with because they had so many restrictions and they screwed the vendor down to the very last cent.

I have the free flickr account and it limited me to putting up like 15 pictures a month so I resorted to posting my pictures on facebook.

Yes, they are very pricey. The quality is very good, but you do pay the price for it.

Sainsbury's and Tescos, especially the larger stores, have very good selections at fair prices.

The smaller stores are not so good. I was very fortunate to have a massive Sainsbury's not too far away from me when I lived in Brizzle.

Did you land a job or are you semi-retired ;)?

Yep. It also saved me about $50 on convenient flight times (would have had to depart AUS by 09:30am on Sunday to get the cheap fare on CO). Also, my section of Teh Pit is significantly closer to HOU than IAH, which makes for a cheaper taxi ride on the return.

"Semi-retired" - I love it. :)

No job yet, but I do have an interview lined up for next week.
