Apparently, an Iranian airline (Mahan Air) got themselves a old EX UA 744, by way of blue sky.

Continuing random aviation stories. http://www.airliners.net/photo/Mahan...dfe914f075e104

Blue Sky aka Blue Airways, got three ex-UA 744s rehabbed them in AMS, registered them in Great Brittan. They they leased/sold (unclear which) to Mahan Air and the three aircraft have been re-registered in Iran. http://www.airliners.net/aviation-fo....main/3103393/

U.S. office of Export Enforcement has banned Blue Sky from taking delivery of anymore 744s (they were supposed to buy three more.)http://efoia.bis.doc.gov/exportcontr...ions/e2058.pdf

I wonder if UA knew that their aircraft would be sold/leased to an Iranian airline.

Good for them, they need some newer planes. Those 707s and others are not too safe.

Good afternoon, Box. Just checked into the JW Marriott Houston. I requested and received a suite upgrade to a 1200sqft corner suite overlooking the Galleria, Westheimer, and Sage Rd. I know Marriott has its issues but my upgrade record as of late has been absolutely stellar. There are actual books on the bookshelf, though they are either French or Dutch. I guess that's a great way to keep people from stealing them. :-:

There was an SQ crew waiting for their shuttle to IAH when we checked in. I counted 12 pilots or so, and about 30 other crew. It's a long trip to Moscow.

Happy anniversary! Glad Ms. Mackie is feeling better ^

Congrats on the upgrade :-:. Sounds like the suite is ready for Belgian guests :D

Plus1 is the man to ask for that sort of information down there.

You might have liked it in South Florida today. Went to about 65F the whole day with bright sunshine and just about no humidity. No question it will stand as one of the ten best weather days of the year here and we are only two days in.

I have a general complaint about shows on BBC America. They lack any hot chicks. That is all.

Good evening Box, from the LAX PC. Waiting for CO1803, last leg of a loooong journey home from Malaysia.

Yeah, but Top Gear is pretty funny.
