No one wants to buy them - I was referring to politicians not letting an employer with visibility fail ...

If the slot swap doesn't go through, i think they are dead in the water.

I go back and forth on this one. As a FF, I really dislike US as they have brought the suck to an airport near you for quite a while.:td: Converesly, it is good for CLT to be a hub especially with all of the problems that Wachovia and/or Bank of America have experienced over the last two years or so. It is a toughie ....

I realize what you meant, but I suspect it will be another TWA honestly.

They do have some viable assets, they just can't figure out how to capitalize on them.

So did I. I think I had 15 of 16. But I, for some inexplicable reason, did not turn the form in. I probably would have been on stage. :(

TWA was why I became an AA flyer for 2001/2002.

It's the Nine Lives Airline. Every time astute FTers have predicted its demise it has managed to escape.

I think it used its 8th and 9th in picking up the pieces of HP. The fact that they are STILL not merged doesn't help much.

It probably wouldn't be CH 11... it'll be Ch 7 and some of the (few) valuable assets will get picked up by the remaining airlines.

I just put steak and green beans in the fridge. I tried to fight through the wall but couldn't.

Well both are good cold (or warmed up). 2nd best domestic airplane meal I've ever had (excluding the Short Ribs on DL) was some leftovers from Capital Grille on a redeye SEA-MCO.

I'm afraid to get on a scale. I've been eating too much in my boredom the past week and a half. I shall blame the 4 Activia's I had last week as I seem to be reaaly hungry on thos four days and ever since.

Merger/insolvency speculation is pretty meaningless, but something to consider is this: somebody has to have a hub in Phoenix; it's just too big, with too much O&D, not to. Who could put that into their map?

In other news, just scored EUA at T-6 for JFK-SFO-JFK legs next week on a DL "BE" style 752. I like it.^

In the absence of a gym membership, I've found running, crunches and push-ups to combine for a very effective workout routine (that's free). Switched over to 5 mins of run for every 2 of walking this evening. Hopefully I'll be able to go for a half-hour solid within about 3 weeks.
