In the past 3 years of my flying obsession I have yet to sit in a middle seat. Its been a close call twice after taking a bump and missing my flight but both turned out to be false alarms when the GA came down the isle with an upgrade to F.

Yup, that's what all the CR1Ls are for, replaced ~30 of my BAe146es, still have 19 left. Replaced all the Tu-154s with Tu-214s. Replacing the 144Ds are going to hurt. I like those long fast routes. Soon as these last 3 MD11s come in, I'm retiring that DC-8, and then focusing on getting rid of the rest of the 146.

Yea my 144s are profit machines daily, but maintenance hogs too, I know exactly what you mean. I have one going big profits intra US on shorthaul, about 25 routes :D

I have no idea how I ever had enough funds to buy all those 144s either it is a struggle to get 300 million now. At one point i had 14 BILLION in bank in this game.

Yeah, no high speed rails in the Czech Republic. :(

If I found a cheap fare in to FRA, I'd fly down to PRG from there. Other German cities closer to PRG would likely be done by train if the ride was under 4 hours and a considerable savings.

No, not at the current fares. Ideally, I'll fly in to a nearby city, spend a day/night there, take a train to PRG and fly out of PRG.

When the inevitable low winter fares to Germany start showing up, I think we'll have some good options from which to select.

I would both picl a closer airport to fly in to and also drink on the train. No wasted drinking time at all. @:-)

Yeah, I just checked my finances, I'm doing good to turn 1M a month profit. Ayup, need to get rid of the maintenance hogs.

On the 767s, go up to 10. That'll balance my MD11s. :D

Airline Mogul turns into a zero-sum game at a certain point. The MX and embedded costs get so high that it's impossible to turn a profit once you reach a certain size.

not really, I was massive and big profits in the AMv2 that i did not even do much with the last years... just have to keep buying new planes and scraping the old ones.

An economist would say that's emblematic of a diseconomy of scale (without fleet renewal).

I took the snail rail from BUD-PRG last MLK weekend, which took 9+ hours including delays.

The slEasyJet flight from SXF-BUD was only 40 mins. :-:

How bad is TATL Y on a US A330?

I did 12 hours in AerLingus A330-200 from SFO-DUB. I had no problems with their seats but I did sit on the 2 seater side. AerLingus had a great emergency exit row with tons of leg room and a FA jumpseat right in front of the aisle seat that you could use as a leg rest. Not so sure if US would.
