I'm getting a rousing response out of the US forum. You'd think that the Flyers didn't play in a US hub.

I've been in a few:

* Anyone still ticked at US' experiment with $2 non-alcoholic beverages can probably blame me ...,
* USAToday quoted me after having an explicitly allowed item confiscated by the TSA,
* A photo of my cubicle ran in USAToday,
* Christopher Elliott (yeah) quoted me in US News in 2003.

Sorry to hear - I had a pretty good day until someone else's student came to me for advising two hours after my office hours ended, then needing to re-route 25 minutes out of my way (on a 20 minute trip) due to road closure, then the nose and Urgent Care thing ...

OUCH! how are you doing?

A little facial bruising but OK. I took an elbow flush from someone almost a foot shorter than I, so it was upward rather than on the bridge.

I've not been in the paper for business travel reasons. My biggest name recognition piece was publicly calling out a Congressman on what sounded like a hole in his ideas for greater use of ACY by area residents. He dodged the question. What a shock.

Anyway, the article runs tomorrow in the Business section. Hopefully I haven't said anything completely inaccurate or stupid. Keep an eye out. :)

AWESOME!!

It is always fun. You'll be surprised how many people you hear from once the picture runs.

I'm still waiting for a call back from CBS news about scheduling an interview. We'll see how that goes.

Awesome, self timing the presentation has be coming in at just under 25 minutes, perfect for a short mock Q&A and completion at the 30 minute mark. Thanks for xFF, icurhere2, and OltonHall for the help and advice.

My local Gannett newspaper used to attribute things to me that I didn't say - often items that were written in memos from state regulators ...

You news-hounds are going to have major fun on the StarMegaDO ;)

Long story short: a while back (Oct. 2 to be exact) I wrote a simple reply/comment to a post by the Bing Travel account (fareologist) on Twitter. The topic was Thanksgiving travel - what you paid, how far out you booked, etc. That was followed by a "hey, would you be interested in talking to a reporter about this?" and I said, sure, I'm up for anything...

As it turns out, said reporter was from the New York Times - and we ended up exchanging emails and talking on the phone once. She said she wasn't sure when the article would run, and I kind of forgot about it...

Until this morning, when I got a call saying "this is the NYT, the article is running tomorrow, and we're sending a photographer to your house this afternoon!"

The photo shoot took 2 hours, and I'm hoping fervently that there were SOME shots that came out non-! They wanted some shots of me with my laptop (presumably "hard at work finding good travel deals!" :p) so I of course pulled up FT on the screen, just in case it made it into the photo. :D

Anyway, the article runs tomorrow in the Business section. Hopefully I haven't said anything completely inaccurate or stupid. Keep an eye out. :)

Very nice. Let the misquoting begin.

I was in it a few years back. Still bitter about it.

Hint or do we have to look and then sulk because we aren't going?

In several different flavors, yes.

Yeah, but if memory serves you're a (semi)fictional character in a Hardy Boys book. Sooner or later we all get in the paper, even if it's just the Obit section. But a novel is immortality.

When I was reading Randys requests for flyers for a documentary I thought oh your daughter and her need for a Platnium MR.

On the way home, had a typical blow out with my dad. In his typical fashion, he thought he could smooth it over by buying me off. I said no and we've spoken about 10 words since. Found out a childhood friends had died; and in general I want to go to bed, pull the covers over my head and not come out for a few days. Sadly, not going to happen. Thank you for letting me vent.

Sorry to hear about your bad day. Have a glass for me and talk to us in the morning!!

Can it be next weekend this weekend??? PLEASE!!

Following in Olton Hall's footsteps, I looked at the stats for my most popular photos on Flickr:

1. Photo with Larry Kellner
2. My Anti-Sully Photo - I had presumed that would be #1
3. 737-900 Landing Gear Well (seriously?)

Ohhhh, sad, sad. Sorry to hear it. Hopefully you'll get at least a little bit of therapeutic burrowing in this evening. :(

I'm definitely glad we've outgrown the old southern maxim that "a lady only has her name in the paper three times - when she's born, gets married, and dies"!
