Aloha box. I have to say, MSN is actually a very nice town. The officer who pulled me over for doing 41 in a 35 was very polite.

Spent the past two hours researching Wisconsin motor vehicle law. My out is the officer running the laser was (foolishly) facing the wrong way in a one way in an unmarked car with no indication that he was a police officer.

That means he violated WI law and I'm going to ask the court to consider that I was justifiably concerned seeing a car facing the wrong direction on a one way street and took evasive maneuvers (speeding up to 6 mph over the speed limit ) to prevent, what I feared to be, a collision with an oncoming motorist.

Any legal beagles in the box think that will work?

In other news, the Sheraton MSN is beautiful. :-::-:

I have never been to a Cheesecake Factory. And I don't want to go to a Cheesecake Factory.

With the re-affirmation of your professional value and corporate worth, a decision to break the equivalence between the count of takeoffs and landings that most people live with, and five hours on (presumably) the Garden State Pkwy, I'd think you'd be ready for a very good night's sleep.

I am sad to say that I had takeout from the Cheesecake Factory at the Menlo Park Mall today. The advantage is that the menu is huge, so it is easy to find something that satisfies nearly everyone in a large group. I also had a salad, which I hope wasn't par-cooked.

I will adhere to the speed limit when I drive from MKE to MSN.

Logistically, won't you have to appear in traffic court, plead not guilty, get a court date set, and then appear at that? Is the travel and expense worth it to you? They probably do a variation on the 2-point "driving an unsafe vehicle" charge reduction for just paying it.

+1 on the emptiness and old people. Also, I can't remember the last time it would have made sense for me to go there - Terminal D has been my constant companion.

No fútbol till Friday. :(

I know - after this two-week binge of multiple games daily, what am I to do? :p (conveniently, it's tomorrow that I will be on a plane for much of the day, and Thursday where we will be out in the mountains somewhere)

Yeah, the UA 3P status has really come in handy this year for the one flight I've taken. It will really come in handy if I manage to find a decent fare to MUC for Beer Do 2011.

If for no other reason, being able to book E+ right from the get-go, and not having to wheedle at the gate, has been quite nice.

No, I can plead not guilty by mail, present the evidence and declare a hardship to fight in person. I have the officer, on his recording device, stating he pulled me over instead of two other vehicles traveling faster than me because of my out of state (rental car) plates.

Besides -- who cares. NYS has no reciprocity with WI. I don't even have to pay the ticket (although I will. I've played the bench warrant game once...)

Finally, after 10 years, I've found one good thing about living in NY.

To me, the peace of mind from cruise control at 2 or 3 over the limit on unfamiliar roads is well worth the couple of minutes. If light traffic allows 80 on a piece of the Pulaski Skyway, well, that's a different matter.

Funny Story

Flying out of YYZ today the audio wasn't working for the safety demonstration. The FA let it be known she had never talked through the script while demonstrating before and to "bear with her." She found her script and started going through it, plagued with feedback and not enough hands.

After five awkward minutes she got through it, just as we were taxing onto the runway. Just as she was buckling herself into the jumpseat someone yelled out "now do it in French."

:o

A lot of snow?

Please.

Try living somewhere off the eastern end of Lake Ontario. That's a lot of snow. :-:

Madison gets more snow than Chicago, but less than Buffalo and Rochester, for instance. The problem in Madison is that they don't like to use salt, because everything runs off into Lake Mendota on one side of downtown, and Lake Monona on the other side of downtown.

Mike_asia had a good day. Somehow the word ethnocentric got deployed in a COEX thread.

It is why I like Seattle, coldest winter and spring in the last 20 years and still no snow. http://rolleye.com/smug.gif

Some recommendations:

1) If you can score a rental car with WI plates, you'll be better off. Avoid IL/MI plates in particular. They don't like us.
2) On the interstates, 5 over is fine. One observation I've made is that WI folks haven't all gotten the memo about slower traffic keeping right. There's a disproportionate number of people who'll camp in the left lane doing 65-66.
3) The state police love to stake out work zones.
4) At the moment, there's a massive reconstruction project going on at the airport exit off I-94 in MKE. Don't know how far along they'll be by the time you head there. Based on my drive through 2 weeks ago, expect significant delays driving to/from the airport, especially if it's anywhere near rush hour. It's enough of a hassle that if the fare difference to fly direct to MSN isn't too bad, I'd cut out the drive.

Wasn't Seattle hosed for a while when they got a bunch of ice last year or the year before?
