Places not used to ice or snow fall into collective, population-wide  when it does hit. Was in ATL once when an ice storm hit, and on the TV news, watched video of a bus just slowly sliding down a hill, sideswiping everything on the street, a BMW parked on top of a low retaining wall, that sort of thing.

DAL got a lot of national attention this last winter for closing schools for like an inch of snow. In fact, the schools were closed to protect the kids, many of whom lacked the proper outerwear, from the cold wind chilled morning, but that didn't make as good a story.

You ain't missing anything. And for sure don't go there just for the cheesecake, some of the worst cheesecake I've ever had.

In other news, iPhone 4 syncing successful. No yellow blotches and reception seems OK thus far. Screen is ^.

The factory is pretty bad, they do have a decent happy hour. You can get an app for $5.00 that will feed a family of four.

A lot of snow?

Please.

Try living somewhere off the eastern end of Lake Ontario. That's a lot of snow. :-:

Madison gets more snow than Chicago, but less than Buffalo and Rochester, for instance. The problem in Madison is that they don't like to use salt, because everything runs off into Lake Mendota on one side of downtown, and Lake Monona on the other side of downtown.

North Dakota doesn't use salt because it's too cold to use salt. Besides, ice at zero degrees isn't that slippery.

Itunes is making me crazy. That is all.

Their cooks would be lost in a real kitchen. Friends who manage some of Wolfgang Puck's restaurants recounted instances where the 'cooks' who left the Cheesecake Factory were hired to work in the kitchens and left the same day. They were not familiar with some of the basic kitchen principles and could not keep up with the demands of the job.

While Cheesecake Factory it definitely a heart attack on a plate and enough for 8 meals, it's all made fresh daily. I read their annual report once and they were quite proud of it being made each day. :-:

It should be noted that the Cheesecake Factory desserts are not made in house and are baked in a factory. Truth in naming. :-:

I did OK with CAKE stock but my primary restaurant allegiance is M&S, which understands fresh food as well. Don't own shares in MSSR.

Sheraton Kauai

I stayed at the Sheraton a few years ago. Not as great as the Grand Hyatt but for the bucks and the location it's quite decent.

4) At the moment, there's a massive reconstruction project going on at the airport exit off I-94 in MKE. Don't know how far along they'll be by the time you head there. Based on my drive through 2 weeks ago, expect significant delays driving to/from the airport, especially if it's anywhere near rush hour.

Last year, I had to go to Brookfield, and the driver did not get immediately on the expressway, but went to, IIRC, Loop 100 on wide surface streets, and then rejoined I-94 for just a short time and we were there. He said it was because of construction then.
