Hmmm It seems based on all of the aruguments in that segment that if I ran against Lautenberg last year I could be a US Senator now?

Sure, but the point I'm trying to make is that Stewart tooling off on Obama is not likely to be well-received by teh head office.

SNL slammed Obamo real hard a few times this year, harder than they ever slammed W.

By the way, Mike, I wasn't dumping on you in the comment I made earlier about Scorsese. Long been amused by the glasses that aging Hollywood folks wear (think Martin Landau), and that picture just struck me as funny.

Not at all taken as such, sir. ^

Yes.

The difference here is that Lorne will air what is funny. Comedy Central will air what is funny up to a point of political correctness, except for South Park. South Park has a kid named Token, but they are also the token of the channel.

So if the GOP decides to put my name up to run against Menendez and I don't spend a dime or do any campaigning I could win too? I'm sure I can learn to answer questions slowly by replying "Yes" and "No" after a long pause. How much does a US Senator make?

Congrats on 20k CM

$174K as of this election cycle. The majority and minority leaders get a bump to $193,400, and the Speaker of the House pulls in $223,500. The Speaker's salary being ~60% of the President's seems wrong...the Speaker is a ton more powerful.

Not a bad retirement plan.

Menendez already knows how to do that...trouble is that we have to believe the opposite of every answer.

In other news, fiancee flipped on the DIY Network. Some  couple is removing a load-bearing wall and moving electrical wiring by themselves. I guess they could always change the name to the DOA Network.

Just when over to see if I could find any reporting of the Prop 8 closings (not TV in the court), and instead found this. Probably already in the main forum, but, I was wondering when this was going to bubble to the top:

WASHINGTON — Restoring financial regulation of the airline industry will be put before Congress if the Justice Department approves a proposed merger of United and Continental airlines, two key House members said Wednesday.

At a hearing on the merger, Reps. James Oberstar, D-Minn., chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and Jerry Costello, D-Ill., chairman of the panel's aviation subcommittee, expressed concern about the impact the proposed deal could have on consumers and airline workers.

Deregulation has been credited with making airline travel affordable for the average American. But Oberstar pointed to the $2.7 billion the airlines earned in baggage fees in 2009 as evidence that consumers are no longer benefiting from the system. He said he believes there's support in the House for re-regulation.
