So are you suggesting Trixbox may be the way to go? :)

In case you didn't see, Newegg has Cisco/Linksys VOIP phones for $44.99. (Just in case you need more)

I'm using the Trixbox distro with my own Asterisk config underneath. It works GREAT. I don't need more new phones, but SPA-922 for $45 is good. I'll have to take a look. I've got SPA-942 phones right now...

One of these days i'll get around to configuring asterisk. I think I may need mucho alcohol based on what I saw last time I looked at it.

Did you get a chance to taste the Primitivo (Italy) and the Zinfandel (California) at the Salt Lick?

Indeed I did, thanks to you. They were excellent. ^

And this summer, when it comes time for absolute crispness at a really good price, try a Austrian Gruener Veltliner.

I also noticed from another post that you preferred an unoaked Chardonnay. That is a good start but there have been very few good examples of that from California where they believe that a buttery, oakey taste fits the American palate. For the great unoaked (or very lightly oaked) chards, look to the white Burgundies, such as the Chablis and Montrachets.

I have other suggestions, but you sound as if you are off to a good start.

BTW, I always enjoy the trip thru the Russian River Valley wineries in Sonoma County the most of any wine region out there. I have found Napa to have been too commercialized and enjoy the laid back atmosphere that we find in Sonoma along with what I call "less fussiness" in the wine-making.

I believe I've had a Vouvray, though it has been some time. The Austrian selection sounds intriguing. I had a very good Austrian white when I was in Salzburg a while back (it helps cleanse the palate between beer pilgrimages)... but can't recall what type I had.

Also, yet another vote for Sonoma. It's going at the top of the pile for the next time I have more than a day to play with in the Bay Area.

It was nice to meet you at the AUS DO.

My parents did the Russian River Valley trip a couple years ago and have been raving about it ever since. Apparently 2006 pinot noir from there is the way to go (disclaimer: I know absolutely NOTHING about wine in general).

On another note:

If any of you (in NY/NJ) are wondering how to get the most out of those Chase account transactions that you need, there's a Commuter Cash promo going on now through May 31 - $10 cash back for every $150 that you spend on Metrocard/LIRR/MNR/PATH/NJT. Not much, but if you were already going to drop the money anyway (as I am)...I may stock up for the next few months' worth of train and subway tickets while I'm at it.

Be VERY careful with this. You have to make the purchases as Credit, not Debit, to get the cash back. I forget which type of transaction you need for the Chase/OnePass credit.

I've been doing all my Chase purchases as credit...I believe that's the only way you get the miles as well. Seems to have been working for the last 6 months.
