I just might see you guys there. I live close to downtown and haven't been to the Flying Saucer in ages.

Anglo Large Clawed Otter Aug 24, 2006 9:10 am

Look forward to seeing you there if you can make it.

J.Edward Aug 24, 2006 9:58 am

Hope you can make it ssullivan ^

Also, royalflush is going to try an swing on by too
(...and hopefully without assorted splattered fecal matter  )

IAH_FLYER Aug 24, 2006 10:24 am

I would definitely come if this was during the week since I work downtown...but I don't think I'll be driving in on Saturday. I see enough of the Katy Freeway during the week. :)

Wimp! :p

I can clearly see that IAHFlyer would decimate you in that death match :p :p :D

Besides, just take Westpark Tollway in to 59 and 59 to 529 -- no traffic on Saturday and an easy drive in to town. :)

ND Sol Aug 24, 2006 11:05 am

Now if you would do it on Friday after work, then I certainly could have been there (but perhaps that was your intent :p )

In case I fail my to mention my non-fecal fetish fascination at the Flying Saucer, a little background info: Last year CO poo-poo-ed on my bag
somewhere between Bangor, Maine – EWR – MSY – IAH – [wherever it went next].

Problem solved: biohazard bag disposed of and a VERY nice new one furnished by the fine folks representing our fair air carrier.

About getting to the Flying Saucer - You could take pubic transportation – Metro’s Light Rail. (well then its a fecal issue again)

timo469 Aug 26, 2006 12:58 pm

I'll come by. I am new to Houston, so hopefully I don't get lost. How will I know who you are?

Is there any free parking near by?

See you tonight

Timo

ssullivan Aug 26, 2006 1:20 pm

See you there timo469. The Flying Saucer really isn't too difficult to find -- it's right on Main St. As for free parking, you should be able to find some nearby on one of the cross streets. I generally am able to find decent parking on Preston and Prarie near the courthouse on Saturday afternoons.

I'm sure you'll be able to find us because we'll probably be the only people in the place talking about airplanes, airlines, airports...

Just look for the area without the blue carpet.

I'm the tall skinny guy with a buzz cut wearing a tee shirt that says "I'm with stupid" (standing next to I'll let you fill in the blank)

I don't know. Maybe ring Flying Saucer @ (713) 228-9472 - 705 Main St Ste A, Houston, TX

See y'all there!

Shouldn't a "Micro" Do be in this part of the world? ;)

Next time, please stick to mini- or nano-. :)

Anglo Large Clawed Otter Aug 26, 2006 3:53 pm

There's wireless here in the saucer, but you gotta get the code from the wait staff (not too much help if you don't have a laptop or don't know to ask)...just thought I'd say A friend and I are on the back couches nearest the bar. Look for the tall skinny guy with hair (me) and the short fat guy with less hair (him), and a pair of laptops. If you don't arrive for another 30-40 mins, look for the drunk people.

sjefenole Aug 26, 2006 5:30 pm

Hey guys, the airport is where it's at! I'm at the PC close to the Int'l arrivals now.

Yep, there were a few drunk people in the place. :D

Perfect timing! Will be in MSY this weekend, but here next. Count me in.

WineIsGood Oct 2, 2006 4:18 pm

I'm a maybe - let me know which night you decide on!

ND Sol Oct 2, 2006 4:50 pm

The 13th would most probably work for me.

IAH_FLYER Oct 2, 2006 4:59 pm

Will be in BTR. Maybe next time.

Was great the last time.

uthornsgo Oct 2, 2006 10:27 pm

Going to Dallas for TX-OU. Uthornsgo!!!! Flying WN and feel like I'm cheating on CO!

Please post a report and do this again sometime. It sounds fun and Flying Saucer is great!

ssullivan Oct 3, 2006 9:37 am

I'm definitely up for it, although that weekend is a bad one for me. I'll be flying to DAL on the 13th (unlike uthornsgo I'm not defecting to WN -- I'm flying the luxurious COEX ERJ seat 12A) and will be up there for the weekend for my 10-year college reunion. So I'll have to pass this time -- but will definitely try to make the next one!

Well, you might find the stadium a little empty if you are going up the weekend of the Micro-Do. :D The OU-UT game is this weekend and the Micro-Do is the following. But then I understand your confusion since you root for UT and fly WN. :)

About how both of our teams have their one loss against a Big Ten opponent?

uthornsgo Oct 3, 2006 7:46 pm

Oops

LMAO!!!! I feel like a complete idiot- for all the reasons you mentioned!!! Perhaps I'll see you all there then. Now I wish I hadn't confessed to flying WN. I'll ask everyone to disregard that post.

Thanks ND sol, and Hook'em!!!

Can we continue planning this over at Community Buzz? Best place for such things, after all.

Put me down as a possible maybe.

J.Edward Oct 4, 2006 7:35 am

Want to make it the 13th?

Morning all -

Seems like the 13th (Friday) is looking better for folks than the 14th (Saturday).

Y'all want to plan on meeting up after work at the usual place after work?

Anglo Large Clawed Otter Oct 4, 2006 7:42 am

Friday the 13th sounds good to me. Seems strange saying that...but the date works :D

Anglo Large Clawed Otter Oct 4, 2006 9:59 am

Perhaps the Mod could change the title of this thread to IAH Micro-DO's, Ongoing Thread...or somesuch. As Micro-DO, this Friday is a bit misleading

J.Edward Oct 4, 2006 11:45 am

whoops

Well ladies and gents... it's getting to be about that time again

Any suggestions for dates?

November’s wide open for me... except for the first weekend and Thanksgiving.

ssullivan Oct 30, 2006 7:04 pm

Only date in November that works for me is Saturday, November 11. Can also do Friday, November 10 but not until about 8:00 PM. Have a crazy travel schedule this month. Probably spending no more than six nights of November in my own bed!

theblakefish Oct 30, 2006 9:17 pm

Well, now that I'm a regular IAH'er, I might as well get involved in these. The weekends of 11/4 and 11/11 aren't good (A&M vs. OU and Nebraska), but I'm pretty much wide open any time after that until the New Year.
