Wow, I always thought the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was in New York City, but now it's in Cleveland, Ohio. Guess it was moved and I missed it. But why Cleveland? Seems like NYC or LA would be a more logical place. I read the general info page online, but didn't get a clue as to why it's in Cleveland. But anyhow, it's on my list of "must see" places, sounds like they have some pretty good items to see.

As a former Clevelander, I would say that Slyman's corned beef sandwhiches are the best I've ever had. Two people can easily eat one sandwhich. Get there early, because they're crowded during the lunch hour and close at 2:30 or so (or at least they used to).

OK, you might be confused because the induction ceremonies to this day are usually held in NYC but the Hall has always been in CLE. Maybe they had a corner of some other museum in NYC before the CLE location was built but it has always been here. Why Cleveland you ask? How about this is where the term "Rock and Roll" had its birth. Plus a rich music history. Do a google search of "Alan Freed, disc jockey" for more info. Rock on.

Hop a flight to NYC - lots of stuff to do there

Indeed. But for a smaller city Cleveland has a lot to offer in regards to cuisine, arts, culture and entertainment.

The term "rock n roll" was coined by a Cleveland DJ, Alan Freed.

If you're a football fan, you could try the Pro Football Hall of Fame, about 45 miles south of CLE (I believe) in Canton.

It's never been anywhere but CLEVELAND. Alan Freed was a legendary DJ and made "rock & roll" a part of pop culture. As a native NYer, I've found Cleveland has a great music history. The city is really underated...most of my jaded friends from NYC are shocked at the amount of things to see/do. It's really a beautiful city and there is a sh*tload of apartment going up around this place as housing is reasonably priced. I know quite a few people from NY, Boston, DC, & Philly that have migrated here. It's a place where lots of east coast folks are moving to as the cost of living in the northeast is getting so bad. From a cultural standpoint...the museums here are just hands down five star & best in class!

Oh god...slyman's is awesome! I'd say those sandwiches are atleast 5". I thought NYC had some good deli's. I've never been to a deli, before slyman's, that had SRO crowd and made you wait! however, that sandwich is soooooooooooo worth the wait! ^ ^ ^

I worked on a concert series, "Live From the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame" on MTV. One of the reasons given on the show cancellation was because they had trouble getting acts that wanted to come to CLE. Main reason they hold the induction ceremony in NYC. Plenty of luxury hotels, restaurants and attractions for the inductees and acts.

Thats not 100% accurate, the RRHoF board is based in NYC and has never wanted to promote/produce the show in Cleveland. They've fought it tooth and nail every year. My company, when we owned a record company, though the board was prejudice and openly discouraged wanting to move it to Cleveland permanetly. It has nothing to do with the venues as Playhouse Square Center in Cleveland can handle any event and there are plenty top notch restaurants and hotels in the immediate downtown area.

Find it hard to believe that acts care where that much where they perform and get exposure and leverage future revenue. I suspect it is much more the case that the corporate interests- the real soul of R&R- that prefer not to be tainted by a declasse venue.
