Will CO match UA status qual extension?
For a $25 fee, UA Mileage Plus members who are within 10000 miles of a level can extend the qualifying period until March 31. Details here:

I'm not within 10000 miles of Gold for next year, so it won't matter to me. But given CO's infatuation with incremental revenue, I'd be surprised if the DIDN'T match this....

AA did a targetted promo (not sure who or how many got it) of a similar vein - qual for Platinum (AA's 2nd elite tier) by flying 10,000 miles by March 31.
I am curr AA Gold, and only flew about 10,000 this year.
My expectation is that if CO were doing a promo, we would have seen it by the 15th. Could be there was a targetted one, although I would not have gotten it, having qualed for Gold by the "Challenge".

I actually DO live in a hub city. (Well, not in Newark proper, but close enough.)
Sorry to have diluted your status!
(Actually, I only got EasyGold, which is just fine with me!)

"Newark Proper"? There's an oxymoron!
Just curious, Paolo. Where is most of your flying from? LGA or EWR? My hunch is that the EWR flyers got the shaft, but the LGA flyer were targeted. But its just a theory.

$25 -- that even seems quite reasonable.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but have never flown CO out of LGA - only EWR. I honestly think I was targetted b/c (a) flying mainly on business, I generally pay higher than average fares (including a few extra-ordinarily absurd ones I never woulda paid for myself), and (b) I flew a bit less on CO this year than last (mainly due to exorbitant fares), and they may have been trying to win me back. In fact, I even got the offer at fewer trips than I think most people got...but I have no idea how that bit was calculated.

I'm sure the revenue is part of the matrix. Which would also explain hy I never get targeted. If I were flying US, I'd be a cockroach!

OTOH, I fell short of UA Premier by 9,000 miles (only flew one flight with UA last year...SNA-LAX-SYD-LAX-SNA
). And UA did offer me the opportunity to extend my qualification period. And, I think I'll take them up on it. In addition, any miles flown Jan.-Mar. will count toward both 2003 and 2004 qualification. Not a bad deal for $25! Wonder if CO will offer me Silver for $400 and 30,000 miles? HAHAHAHA!!!May even crank up enough miles on UA's weekend specials to make PremEx! Yep, UA weekend specials go to real travel destinations like Bangkok, Singapore, London, Munich, New York, etc...not just to Rochester, Cleveland, Albany, etc.

i can't believe they did it for $25 considering almost everything on airlines these days is $100. $25 is a joke.
