The A pod we arrived at still had gates for other carriers....and....no elite line for security, which made me flinch thinking how I would run from my C concourse arrival to make my A concourse departure.
Just in case I didnt ask enough times, what the heck....we need a bus to run between the first gate (closest to the security area) of the C concourse middle finger (expressjet) and any gate at the A pod which hosts the ATL/ORD/DCA/IAD flights.
The buses could (and should) be timed to meet all A-arriving flights for quick transport to C. I think two of those buses that used to run between C and the old COExpress hardstand area could be resurrected for this duty, or just get the current airport vendor, I think it's Academy, to provide the service.

The EWR minimum connect time is still 30 minutes, regardless of terminal switches. This really is ridiculous, and I can't think of any other airport that will allow you to make a terminal switch and reclear security in such short time.
Anyhow, I've been proactive about my EWR connects, and either extending them or rerouting around them.

The AirTrain makes it quick and easy... I've never had a long security line over at Terminal A... This might change in the future though with the moving of the shuttle flights. If they add a EA Security line I think it'll be fine... In general I think this isn;t so bad of a move, you'll be closer to the PC rather than at Terminal C.
Adding a bus seems a bit over kill and it would prolly be about the same amount of time or insignificatnly less than taking the AirTrain...

in theory, the air train makes the transfer easy - the issue is the timing. Flights to/from DCA are annoyingly and habitually late - sometimes very late.
My published connect time is actually over 2 hours, but on many occasions, thanks to the nitwit FAA's traffic flow program run off its Commodore PET computer, I arrived with 10-20 minutes to connect, including one doozy where the electric cart and a big tip was the one thing saving me from a night at the hotel. That is the norm on most afterooons, not the exception.
The bus skips the security line, which could be a make or break timing deal for those tight connections...I think the bus will pay for itself by saving CO from all those free hotel nights and meals they will be paying for.

I came thru there today. What a friggin nightmare. Who ever decided this was a good idea probably came from USAir or UA - they should have to do it a few times and realize how much of a pain this is. I though CO was an passenger friendly airline. Not according to this.

Airtrain=quick and easy, not when you wait for it 15 minutes, there always seems to be some operational problem with it.
Ewr security, Well enough has already been written them, never had a good quick experience with them with my trips through there.

This morning while flying my EWR-BOS segment I noticed that in the CO magazine the airport layout for EWR lists Boston over at Terminal A now. continental.com still doesn't though and I haven't seen/heard anything else about this. Are they really going to move it now? If so when is it effective?

Security is another story... EliteAccess Security has been taking longer than non-EA Security.

This whole setup continues to be unacceptable.
I think that reclearing security while travelling domestically without changing carriers is a uniquely CO experience.
Does any other carrier have this type of setup anywhere?

Rumor has it CO wanted to set up a secure bus between the terminals ala IAH DL/CO connections, but can't make the logistics work.

Inconsistent..........
The inconsistency on the DCA/IAD flights to EWR is begining to get even more annoying. I booked a flight from DCA - EWR - ORD with the though that I dont have to re- clear security again at EWR. Guess what - we used a C gate once we landed in EWR from DCA. A few weeks back I noticed on the board that a Milwakee flight was coming into Terminal A. Wish they would get their act together.
