Mind switching seats?
OK so I'm flying IAH-LAX today and I'm seated in the bulkhead row on a 757, you know row 7 right by the door where no one is in front of you. Anyway I'm on the aisle and very happy I snagged the seat. I boarded at the elite call and the middle seat was empty when I was seated, so close to the end of the boarding a couple comes on board and one of them has the middle and the other has a seat farther in the back, so they ask the FA is there anyway they can get two seats together. Much to my surprise the FA comes over to me and asks if I mind moving and taking the other seat. I said no, so they just stood close to the entry way trying to figure out what they were going to do, of course the lady asks me again if I would more and again I say no..
So the other passengers did not have the sense to get their seat assignments early so they were stuck not sitting together, I can understand them wanting to fix that, but I am pissed that a FA would ask someone who she knew picked that seat to move. Every happen to anyone else??

The FA doesn't know you hand-picked that seat. Most people don't care about the nuances of seat selection. Us FTers are a rare breed, and a real minority.
Incidentally, if I'm in Y, I generally refuse to switch until the door is closed. Why? Battlefield promotions. I want to make sure I'm found if some GA or Redcoat boards the plane to move me up.

You did right by me. Others failed to get their game together, no reason you should give up your seat. Good move to me and the point about ug is excellent.

Me and my babe don't like to be cooped up, so we like to choose opposite aisle seats. Lots of nice people have offered to change seats so that we could sit together.

I had an exit row aisle seat in coach picked long in advance, when a lady seated in a middle seat behind me, asked me to switch, so she coluld sit next to her husband in the middle exit row seat next to me. They had gotten on just as the doors closed, so I suspected, that they were standbys!
Of course, I said 'NO'!
The husband had a pushy attitude the whole flight.
On a recent flight, I was in the bulkhead aisle seat in First ( apparently your favorite also), and a women suggested, that I trade for her window seat in the row behind, so she could sit next to her husband, who was next to me.
Of course, I said "NO'!
But she was loudly verbal about it in raising a stink to get her way. Eventualy her husband moved back to be next to her, and she talked through most of the transcon. And even had the nerve to remark to me later about the situation.
WHat nerve!

Worse yet is the attempted "forced switch", when you board and someone is already sitting quite deliberately in your assigned seat, and they basically refuse to give it up. Then the FA doesn't have the guts to suggest to the squatter that their behavior is inappropriate. 99% of the time the location you are expected to joyfully switch to is worse.
All the more reason to:
1) board early
2) take non-stops flights
3) avoid tight connecting flights

If I am lucky enough to snag a bulkhead or exit row I will be damned if I am moving for most anybody accept for the physically challenged. In this case, all the more so.

Whenever, someone wants to swap, the FA should always ask that the requesting passenger move to the less desirable seat. FA's should be taught this. (I recently had an experience on an Air Canada flight - needed to move because mother and child were split and one was sitted in an exit row. The FA indicated we had to move you, but to a MORE desirable seat - the exit row).
My experience in F has been that many times when the two passengers traveling together are in window seats - they usually don't ask to swap - since they know the exit row folks either bought the F seat or had a high priority upgrade. They are usually glad they got upgraded and less likely to make a fuss over changing the seat. When they have one aisle and one window - then the swap is easier. The protocol should be that the folks requesting the change be relocated to seats farther back - because of meal choice.

I always will change when someone asks me in first, but agree that the requestors should move back, not forward. But was amazes me is the folks who act as if I asked them to move to the lavatory when you ask if they would be so kind to move. Come on now folks! But then again, these are probably the same people who throw elbows during elite boarding....

If you've got a hard earned aisle bulkhead seat, I wouldn't give it up either. Now if I'm asked to move from 23 aisle to 18 aisle-- sure! But then again, if I'm being asked to move next to someone with a screaming baby--no go. On a recent trip I was seated in my fav 1A seat, when I was asked to move to row 3A. In 3B was a woman with a crying baby. I said no, I'd prefer to stay where I was, the woman in 3B didn't want to move as she had all her stuff in the seat in front of her, and was trying to get the baby to sleep. So, long story short--the couple was split up, both were mad at me, and the FA kept giving me glaring looks.
