Cost of E+ on 757-200?
I am flying to London in the next month and now that E+ will be rolled out to all of the 757 fleet, I would like to book a seat. Is there an way to determine what the cost of an E+ seat will be without booking? There is no option to search for E+ seats and the seat map indicates that E+ seats can only be purchased after booking.
I am am lowly 2P so there is a chance I could snag a seat at T-24, but if the cost isn't too great I'm considering just paying at booking.

For the record, E+ pricing is based on flight miles.

But I was given a "free" E+ seat on the UA 767-300 that I am flying out on. How does this make any sense?

Right. UA gives E+ to all Elites for free (until the programs converge).
CO gives Extra Legroom (ELR) seats for free to Golds and up.

Ah, that was my mental block. I was thinking of them as E+ seats, not "Extra Legroom" seats. Is the policy different for the 767-400? Per this thread by UA Insider (from only back in Nov), the E+ seats on the 767-400 are complimentary to all elites:

There's an implication in what you say that the lowest-level elites will lose free E+ once the programs converge. Are you actually saying this? Considering that once the convergence happens, Mileage Plus will be the ffp of the combined entity, I would assume the opposite unless it's specifically been announced otherwise.

So it's sort of a hybrid between CO's and UA's previous policies.

A potential harbinger of things to come, though, is that DL's Economy Comfort section (its equivalent of E+) is not free to its lowest tier silver elites (although they receive a discount on the buy-up).

Well for this year it definitely will be available "at checkin" for Silver members in the new program:

Method of payment for E+ seat?
We are flying to LHR on this aircraft and have absolutely no status, but we do have electronic vouchers. We already have tickets and seat assignments in lowly economy. Will Continental accept an e-cert as a method of payment to upgrade? Not sure it is worth the extra $300 for us.....

Just flew from CDG-IAD on 1-26
Seats on the 757-200 are labelled E+ and all of the E+ on that flight had very nice leg room. FWIW, the 757 seemed to have more E+ leg room than other UACO options to Europe, such as the 777 and the 767-300/400, but it might have just been an optical illusion. . . ..
For the record, it was a very pleasant flight with a light load and no stopover on the way in Gander, NF......
