Thank you for the update Shannon! :)

My flight on Monday IAH-LAS is showing 13/20 full on the seat map. Guess that upgrade didn't have a chance :/

Well-it doesn't look like it's normal. CO1719 is still 0 booked and we're still at R0 , RN0 (Whatever the new fare class is/isn't) 2 days before departure.

Agent was able to manually do my UG!

Granted it was R9 RN9, with only 6 booked out of 24.

I was ready for her to tell me I had to wait for EUA to run...even though I was #1 on the list.

As stated here, they are having difficulties ever since they switched fare classes so they have made some exceptions to processing the UG manually.

Wierdly enough though, once they confirmed me, I think it triggered the EUA to run since everyone else on the list, with the exception of 1 person, was then cleared into FC.

Either way ^ to the agent and her supervisor! I know my UG would've cleared but just wanted to select my preferred seat.

I know we all have identified the current issues (and UA Insider has confirmed them) - but this exact same issue happened to me 6 months ago, where EWR-LAS was booked at 2/20 24 hours out, I was WL'd with miles, and no EUA was running (despite R8 or something). I had to call in to manually process my upgrade, which then triggered a massive EUA run.

So let's not be too congratulatory about a process that is fundamentally flawed, and doesn't seem to be changing going forward.

Yes these backend processes are very "buggy". One little thing that is quirky and it holds up everything until manual intervention.

My monday morning PHL-IAH is still off. I don't have Expert Flier but it shows booked 1/16 with 2 paxs upgraded and this is only ~40 hours out

GMAB. Maybe you're fine with an inferior, broken system and have no desire to try and change it - I know that's the PMCO way, sit and take it and not demand improvements. Not all of us like getting hosed by the system though.

The point I was making is that this isn't a new issue - I have to call in Every. Single. Time. to clear my waitlisted upgrades when I see R>1. And now EUA isn't running.

But in fact it is. There are sporadic instances of when it isn't. On my MR last weekend 2 segments cleared at the 5 day mark, 2 cleared at the gate, 1 of which was a booked 0. Annoying? Sure. "Now EUA isn't running" ? Not quite.

That's great for you. Reminds me of the call center argument - "long wait times don't happen to me, so everything is fine, you've done something wrong". Maybe you've missed the other 98 posts in this thread talking about the issue and the specific flights people have cited, along with UA Insider's reply confirming that there were issues.

Most of the call center arguments are from the crappy voice recognition system. Once it is pointed out that you can manually enter your OP# I have yet to hear a second complaint from someone. Sure, I would love to have the system recognize me based on my phone number. I've made the suggestion. So now I can continue to ..... about it or give the suggestion to people to help solve the issue at hand.

I never said there wasn't a problem, in fact I admitted that I experienced it. My point was the system is in fact working, just not for every flight every time. I think if it was a more widespread problem this thread would be well past page 7.

No shame in 100+ posts in a little over a week. Regardless, it doesn't have to be 100% to be widespread, it does seem to be affecting a lot of flyers.

Maybe I'm just unlucky with my R space issue, I do not understand why the WL cannot clear automatically.

bocastephen Oct 8, 2011 1:17 pm

My Sunday AM flight just cleared the remaining seats - but it did so at a very odd time, as if someone triggered it manually. At least we didn't need to wait for gate assignment.

TheStoicPaisano Oct 9, 2011 5:44 pm

Another data point:

EWR-SAT tomorrow (9OCT).

11/12 booked at T-60, I'm thinking no chance as I'm Plat on an S fare. Maybe I'll be in the top half-dozen for the one battlefield upgrade.

I get EUA'd at T-30. Check-in at T-24, all 12 seats booked, two on the UG list right away.

nova08 Oct 9, 2011 5:59 pm

On my PHL-IAH flt tomorrow morning the remaining 14/16 F seats were filled at T-24, so luckily no waiting until the gate for me
