Anyway, I am much better now and finally made it to Singapore yesterday. Today and tomorrow, I am in Bali, before heading to Sydney on Wednesday.

I got an email confirmation from the restaurant for Thursday, October 26th. They can have us seated by 8:30 p.m. as they are fully booked earlier in the evening. We have a table outside, so I guess that is a plus .

I realize this is an hour later than scheduled, so if you can just confirm if you can make dinner, I would greatly appreciate it. This way, I can have a firm number to give to Cafe Sydney.

Again, dinner is at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 26th. We can meet up at around 7:00 p.m. at Cafe Sydney and take it from there. Feel free to join for dinner and/or drinks.

Hope to hear from you soon.

The later time suits me even better. Will prob be there about 8:45pm. Watch what u eat in Bali..don't want you arriving into SYD ill

Yikes - getting ill just before a lot of flights is terrible luck - hope the bugs stay well away from now on!

MargoOz and I will be at Cafe Sydney about 7.30pm I'd guess, depending on traffic.

Thanks for the very generous offer BEYFlyer - look forward to meeting you, and the other locals.

The outside table will be a great move if weather stays like this. ^

Looking forward to meeting you all, and I hope BEYFlyer is feeling up to drinking with a group of Aussies, either side of this lovely meal, in a terrific spot.

If we are lucky, there should be lots of pretty things to view, and not limited to the harbour At least after a couple of bottles of whatever BEY enjoys most!

when we arrive, will we be looking for the famous FT yellow tags, or OzStamps in the 'Arabian' robes he received from Dovster?

That's a fitting way to thank Dov and BEY for their honest and generous correspondence on their 'FlyerTalk scoops the world...' thread! ^ ^ ^ ^

Reading this thread tempted me to just jump on a plane to join you all at the Cafe Sydney. Since, however, it is already Tuesday, and the party is on Thursday (not to mention the fact that I don't have a ticket or Visa), my appearance is highly unlikelly. The fact that I have to work this week makes it nigh unto impossible.

I wonder if we will do crazy last minute runs, just to meet interesting people like BEYFlyer, once I retire and no longer am bound to clients and job responsibilities. I can see us doing that. ^

Have lots of fun, BEYFlyer, and don't let Ozstamps lead you astray in his home town. Take it from me, he can be a very bad influence.

AFAIK Naji is still travelling, but posting surnames is almost never done on FT, (for good reasons) and that is what the booking is most likely under, unless it is made under the generic name "Flyertalk" which gets around that issue.

In the meantime, until Naji gets a chance to chime in, I may be able to offer a little help here.

Luckily that Cafe is a pretty small place there size wise, so visuals will be handy for meeting at the bar.

Dovster posted Naji's photo on post 33 of this thread:

http://phans.photosite.com/album1/

Which helps a lot with a visual ID among 10 folks in a bar!

And in case Margaret and I are there earlier than 7.30pm, I look like this, but may not create a possible incident, and will leave the headgear behind.

Good thinking, CJ and OzStamps. These links will save some awkward checking around the bar for us!

Wasn't expecting surnames obviously, however, maybe party hats or the like

See you Thurs.

Finally in Sydney!!! I had a little "question and answer" session with the folks at immigration. It seems a 5-day visit for a Lebanese guy isn't good enough for them...

I am really looking forward to tomorrow's dinner. Booking is under my name and I am sure using my first name, Naji, will be fine. Dinner is at 8:30 p.m. outside, table for 8. Right now, I have 7 names confirmed which is great. I'll arrive early and make sure that folks there know what to do. See you there.

Coincidentally, when I went to Italy for a week to visit the UIG Italian Immigration felt that 7 days was too long for me to be in the country.

It was especially annoying because the UIG was there agreeing with them.

You may be interested to know that a commercial TV network promotes Border Security as Australia's #1 rating show. On occasions, customs officers like to grill people here for a short time, especially if they are here a relatively short time and en route from Bali!

Fortunately, BEY will not be a special guest of this show - it appears to be a rehash of 2yr old footage. Interesting link above, anyway.

Sorry to hear you were hassled, BEYFlyer. Hope you are well rested and settling in!
