Thanks again, mjm!
Retreated to my nest and slept fitfully a couple hours.
Now @ SATS1. Checkin took 5 min even with my
complaining about not being in the rows I wanted.
kluau, the guy said HKG-ORD was overbooked by 80+,
so sorry about that.
Thanks to all, especially belle for pointing us in the right
direction for dim sum, and of course our gracious host.
See y'all soon in the friendly skies ...

If you go here you will find Punki's SIN Do 2006 photos
This has been a fun event, where we have met lot of new folks (for many of whom we have not quite yet sorted out names) and seen many old friends, whose names we know.
Punki asks that you e-mail her with the names of all of those handsome young men whose names we can't remember or may have confused.
On the way home from dinner, our taxi driver told us that we had been to a very good restaurant in the Red Light District! He went on to explain that no Singaporean women work in the Red Light District and that no Singaporean men frequent the Red Light District. His explanation was that the Singaporean government estalished legal prositution so that foreign workers could find comfort with foreign women, which would eliminate the possiblity that foreign workers might commingle with Singaporean women.
I wonder if it works?
Good times. ^

A quick search on Amazon found those two books on the topic.

One advantage of being a librarian is that when uncomfortable topics like this come up, "why do you know this?" "I once looked it up for patron reference request." "Oh!"
Great pictures. I am on the right most person in picture No. 40.

I had such a great time meeting all you guys last night, even though I slept through most of dinner and didn't make it out till 9! I'm really glad I ran into a couple of you at Changi Friday night who put me onto this event and look forward to hanging out with some of the locals here over the next few months!
Cheers,
Karthik

Sunday Dinner
I'll be having dinner at 19:00 today (Sunday) at House of Sundanese Food - 55 & 55A Boat Quay / tel: 6534 3775. This is an Indonesian restaurant recommended by fly4fun. Everyone is welcome to join me. An RSVP would be nice if you plan to come so I'll know how large a table to get. I hope to see many of you there.

Excellent weekend, and a great dinner last night. I did make it out to Newton Circus this afternoon, where we had about 15 FTers show up for lunch. Rain finally arrived when some of us made it out to Orchard Road for cold drinks around 2pm, but only for about 15 minutes and it moved on. Thanks, mjm, for piecing this event together. I'm off to Tokyo on Monday morning.
Tom just after 6pm Sunday in Singapore

Just got to the SKL F lounge enjoying first glass of Dom with paffendorf on the next terminal. CGK and Jubilee777 will be back shortly after escorting Guttorm to his flight to MEL. Anyone else around ?.
Another thanks to Mike for organising yet again. Shame I didn't get to the dinner until late. I blame lack of sleep and a rather excessive night out in New Asia on Friday.
Great to meet up with some familiar faces and to meet new people as usual. Memorable moments of the weekend provided by a certain FT Evangalist bouncing on to the dance floor when the Philippino band played his favoutire Rush track, and then doing an amazing pirouette down some stairs when trying (unsuccessfully) to catch a falling glass. ^
Dates for next year ?
