This will come as no surprise to those who know me, but man, am I a moron. I only just now noticed that next weekend's flights are now $158+. I guess I'll have to plan on another weekend then. You would think I've never done this before.

bpauker Feb 25, 2006 6:09 pm

Correction.... MCI and STL are both still $90+ on 3/4 and 3/5 (at least some combination of those seems to work). Looks like I'll head there. Any takers? I'll treat any takers to overpriced airport Starbuck's. ^

Aggie Girl Feb 25, 2006 6:14 pm

pondering....:)

techgirl Feb 25, 2006 7:02 pm

3/5 I could do... although not early (PeachesBB's bachelorette party is Saturday night!)

bpauker Feb 26, 2006 12:15 am

I can't seem to find a way to do two R/T to STL on the 5th, but I wouldn't mind doing one that day since I'm doing two the day before. How late in the day would it need to be, techgirl? As fas the 3/26 group MR goes, I think there's a better than even chance that I could make the first two of the three.

MileageAddict Feb 26, 2006 6:39 am

Sigh, I'm still in the "maybe" category.

At this time, my calendar says I need to be in Charleston, SC all that week for a seminar. So far, no authorization from my employer to go. So...if it never gets approved, I'll be in DFW. Otherwise, I'll need to be in Charleston. :(

Noon or later.

Aggie Girl Feb 26, 2006 10:01 am

gang - let me know what y'all decide on 3/5 -- I might end up doing the two then and getting my Starwood stuff in later. Gracias!

Continuing the metamorphosis of this thread's topic towards the AA 60k promo, here's what I've got either purchased or on hold:

3/4 2x DFW-STL-DFW

3/6 2x DAL-STL-DAL (both on hold right now)... yes I know it's a Monday, but I have this day off for various and sundry reasons. There's a 50/50 chance I'll end up booking this for another weekend, though.

3/26 DFW-AUS-DFW (with techgirl and Aggie Girl and possibly Studley)
DFW-SAT-DFW (also with the aforementioned cast)

Sorry for not posting sooner, but yeah my friend (who was giving me a ride down because of the awful weather) got in a minor wreck on Henderson just east of 75. Nobody was injured, and he drives a big truck which wasn't injured either, but it was around 8 by the time he picked me up and 8:15 by the time we got to Martini Ranch... I'd text messaged studley but then again he wasn't there.

I talked to bpauker later Friday night but he'd left earlier - I agree with what was posted above though: while I like the place to go hang out, drink, and be, it is by no means a conversation hotspot.

On a side note, I now live two blocks from the Tipperary Inn, and while it's not that great of a place, I go there (well, McCarthy's in the back) all the time now and the people that work there and frequent the place are pretty cool folks.

Hopefully I'll see you at the March Do, but it'd probably be at least 2 on a Sunday before I could make it to Grapevine.

Sounds like you might need another drink to get through the last one. Hope to see you in March!!!!

I'm looking forward to the Texas hospitality again. It's been way to long!!! :D

I know Mary already knows this but for the benefit of the others who were interested....

.... I priced all the various combinations for 3/5 in the afternoon. The only thing I could find under $200 was an afternoon STL run or a day run to MCO that would leave a 12-hour layover.

It looks like I'll be doing my last two on random weekday mornings or evenings in April.

Hey kids... see here for all you really need to know upcoming about our wonderful town.

Should be laugh riot! Need we say more?

;)

Bill -

I venture to say this will be the best movie filmed in Dallas since Office Space which was a classic from the second I recognized my office building, my lunch spot, and scarily, my apartment complex. The fact that I worked for a firm that infamously had spawned a (long-dead) monster company that lacked only one letter to be the actual Office Space company was no coincidence either.

Gotta love a movie you can relate to... and I will admit I spent my first two years as a Dallas 20-something maxxing out MY credit cards, amassing a pile of VIP cards to every club in town, and buying shoes that are only practical given valet parking and a barstool to sit on. Fortunately it only took me about 20 months to figure out the $30k millionaire scam.

I'm LOL that this "Dallas term" will soon make it into the national lexicon. I can only hope the new club concept "The Beautiful Room" makes it into the cut of this somehow.

I'm LOL that this is going to possibly start a trend. :D ;)
