BTW - I've never been to a brewfest in my life, but I'm assuming it won't be hard to figure out what's going on/what to do

We still have 10 chips left over from last year that we need to drink up!

Maybe a detour is in order. Hmm.

Have your Baseball and Drink Beer Too!
OK, Michael is more determined than I. He suggests a trip to Portland Friday night to drink beer, more beer drinking Saturday morning, then the trip north to watch baseball Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, so I guess we're in after all with a Saturday afternoon departure.
OK, we DON'T drink and drive so if anyone was worried about that I should have mentioned we'll be traveling by train.

Glad to hear that Michael is the sensible one. Have you ever missed one??
Where is essx?? If she is among the missing, this Oregon citizen will volunteer to provide the appropriate sign/flag for the meeting place.

Yeah, but I THINK we started with somebody's leftover chips from the previous year in addition to last year's purchases...

Surfacing
Sorry, guys. I've been up to my @ss in academic alligators.
'Course I'll be around that weekend. I've never missed a Brewfest. And it 'tis my birthday that weekend afterall, AND I still have the kokoleash in my hot little hand.
To confirm: Yes, the MAX train is $1.60 from PDX to downtown. It's 38 minutes from the airport to Pioneer Square. Cabs are ~$30.
Consider staying at the Doubletree at Lloyd Center, which is just on the other side of the river from the Brewfest. The train stops right next door and is free from there to downtown, an 8-10 minute EZ ride. Spiff got a good Priceline rate there last month. Embassay Suites, either Marriott, the Westin, either Hilton and the Four Points are all good options, but for godsakes stay away from the downtown DT. Spiff says it's not that bad but I'm embarrassed by its shabbiness.
If anyone needs a most excellent walking map that shows the Brewfest site in relation to all the downtown hotels, just send me an owl post and I'll get one out to you.
I'll come back up for air again after finals next month ... back to the books, now.

Count Me In
I'll be there, meeting with my Celebrator Beer News editor so this is officially a business trip, and then planning to hit I-5 Sunday morning to attend the M's game on Sunday before flying out on the Sunday night redeye from SEA.
Will the yellow balloons still be the way to find folks?
(And I STILL owe Essxjay a beer).
