After lurking around on the boards for some time now, I figured that it was time to properly introduce myself
My name is David and I am a 24 year old who lives in Westfield, New Jersey. I have a share in a commercial-industrial paint contracting firm in Elizabeth, and enjoy that very much. In fact, we do some work for CO and UA at EWR, and it is always fascinating to go over there and look at the job sites and be up close and personal with the aviation indsutry. Perhaps Catman could get me an "in" with the UA folks http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif. I am originally from here in Scotch Plains, NJ, but have spent the previous four years in PHX doing my undergraduate work at Arizona State. Needless to say, I did a lot of commuting between EWR and PHX and accrued miles rather fast. My sophomore year, I achieved Elite status with HP and enjoyed wonderful service (contrary to many opinions, it seems, on this board) from them and remained loyal. During my senior year, I realized that I would be heading back east and focused my mileage deposits on CO and OnePass with many CO and HP code-share flights. I only fly about 45K miles per year, which on this board, seems to be not all that much, and at this point it is primarily for leisure travel. Other than travel, some of my other interests include, golf, cycling, hiking, and reading- all of which I was able to do an exorbitant amount of during my time in the "Valley of the Sun." My main interest, though, is my fiancee Shannon, who was brave enough to move from the sunny climes of Scottsdale to New Jersey, where she is a teacher for the cognitively and physically disabled in Somerset County. I echo everyone else when I write that I am thankful to have found this bulletin board and have begun to foment some relationships with some wonderful individuals, and the group at large. I hope that I have the opportunity to meet many of the FTer's, both local and distant in the coming days. |
Welcome to all the newest members of F-T and Dsimon: the United folks at EWR are always nice (even for those who fly the "BLUE" airline!!) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks again for the welcome, Catman. I just have this sinister feeling that when I submit my bid to the contractor and owner, they will just know that I bleed CO blue. This is going to be a good character test to see what kind of scruples I have: Do I pledge allegiance to UA in order to get the job at the the new Air Cargo Center, or do I remain loyal to CO, and let this one slip away http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif?
Decisions, decisions... [This message has been edited by dsimon (edited 04-16-2000).] |
Can't tell you how much fun I have had reading here and how much I have learned from all of you! Thank you so much! It is also really nice to read about everyone, and thank those of you who gave me such a warm welcome when I first joined.
A little about me: I am owned by a wonderful cat (Meow at ya Catman) and paid by an airline....rather shy to post a lot here! I grew up in Montreal (SMessier: bonjour!), travelled all over the world before I was bright enough to join any FF programs!!! Then began traveling as a travel agent and couldn't earn any miles! Now all I do is standby travel and still can't earn miles. My goal is to become a million miler any which way except by frequenting conga lines too often, sorry (ducking)! Hobbies include furniture painting and mileage hunting and enjoying the beauty of Tucson and good food! All in the wrong order though...I am a real mileage geek. Hmmm, is geek masculine or feminine? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/confused.gif Maybe I am a mileage geekess! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif |
I'll get the hang of it http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/redface.gif , not sure why until after I posted the 4:21 posting did I get to see that the others were here all along. hmmmm

Well, I guess I have been putting off my entry into this thread and should just do it. I have been lurking at this site since October and started posting in January. I have been flying all of my life (I'm almost thirty) but have never concentrated on one program until the postings on this site convinced me to start trying to. Living in the Dallas area, American is the logical choice but I have had many bad experiences on the airline from years past. Since the start of the year I have about 31,000 Onepass miles and have made Silver Elite. Almost all of my traveling is on my own dime on weekend trips. I have also made Platinum with Hyatt and Silver with Hilton. Now that I have a "real job" I can afford this hobby and I'm having the time of my life. Thanks for everyone's great advice. By the way, I'm trying to make the Flyertalk event in Montreal in July to meet some of you. If your ever in the DFW area just let me know if you have any time to meet up for a drink and discuss travel stories. We even have Krispy Kremes here now.
Thanks -James |
Thanks, Applefan.
Where did KK open in the DFW area? |
Want the COMPLETE LIST?!?!?!?
Go here... http://www.krispykreme.com/krispykr.html Then go to the LOCATIONS tab, and you'll be drooling all the way there. Enjoy! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif |
