Good morning from Qld, AU

Good morning folks,

After lurking a little while I've finally decided to make a post.

I hail from Queensland, Australia but like to get out and travel as much as possible.

I've only recently attained VA Gold status but am only a lowly QF bronze.

I'm an aviation nut and already held the why fly direct when you can connect mantra in my head before joining FF circles. I've also been known to go out of my way to get on interesting and unusual aircraft types.

I'm also keen on photography an making music.

I've got about 12 more flights racked up for the remaining year, so will keep an eye on meets and hope to see some of you out there!

Nate

Greetings from South Carolina USA. My name is Michael, and, like so many others, I am new here. Born and raised in Savannah, GA (USA), lived mostly in the south. However, the family and I spent nearly 8 years in southwest Ohio, and actually enjoyed it. Big baseball fan and football (American version) fan. Being from Georgia, I was raised properly :) to become a HUGE fan of the Braves, Falcons and Bulldogs.

I'm an instructional designer/corporate trainer.Got a new job last December that requires a lot of travel. I enjoy the travel, but I miss the family while I'm gone. Since starting that job, I've managed to achieve Silver Medallion status with Delta, and will more than likely reach Gold by the end of August.

As a new traveler, I've got a lot of questions. Just got to figure out where to post them.

I'm new here too. I am european based, and travel two different ways. 1) transatlantic business flights - bringing my littles with me periodically and 2) intereuropean holiday flights, mostly to join my spouse who travels even more than i do, in which i always bring my littles.

I am reading reading reading here but its so hard to keep up with the extensive amount of knowledge here and figure out how it applies to ME and what i should be doing, i.e. which reward cards to focus on etc.

There really needs to be some sort of mentorship program here so someone can look at my situation, and recommend routes and programs, all while teaching me what to look for along the way so i can someday pay it forward. :)

New to the site

Hi...I'm a new registrant to the site.
I joined a healthcare consulting firm in Feb 2013, and that's when I started spending more time traveling. I am a physician by training, and have been involved in leadership/management with a few organizations. Louisville, KY is my home, and I'm always happy to return here after a business trip.

I'm a man with the initials MDL and enjoy the art of making credit cards work for me. Had bad credit most of my young life and recently a few years ago decided I wanted more. Fixed my credit, have a great job, married to a beautiful woman and we have the best dog I've ever met. Just hope I can keep it up and continue to make my family happy and secure.

After 25 or so years in the manufacturing world and quality assurance, I moved into a new career some 6 years ago in the IT world and more specifically into the medical arena. Last December I made the transition into consulting and began my road warrior journey again. I travelled a lot in the 80s and early 90s, and things certainly have changed since then. But I've done OK so far and hope this site will help me do even better!

AAdvantage Gold, Delta Silver, Marriot Gold (soon to be Platinum) and National Executive.

I am originally from Arkansas, live in Missouri, and currently am on a project in Atlanta until December.

I am passionate about fly fishing, love to cook especially on the grill and in my dutch oven, play guitar, hunt, camp, and generally enjoy life. One wife, 4 dogs, and a cat named George make up our home, but the light of my life is our 6 year old granddaughter...

I'm new here. I live in Lake Charles LA but I'm from Exeter, England.

I won a trip on a Concorde charter in 1998 and, ever since, have loved flying, even though I have to do it at the unfashionable end of the aircraft.

As a cop, I really don't make anywhere near enough money to fly anywhere, but I have family back in England so I manage to afford one RT to England a year. I'm massively disappointed that UA have replaced the 772 with the 763 on the IAH-LHR route, while almost doubling the fare, so I lose the AVOD and the inseat power.

I just have to hope they enable Channel 9...

Welcome to FlyerTalk, everyone!

@tbeeson58 Have you visited Caddo Lake? I nearly gave up on US travel until I saw photos of that place. Plus, Arkansas has decent bbq, right?

New to this site. Will be flying out of Orlando International (MCO) or Sanford. Interested in knowing the best way to accumulate miles.

wintersweet Aug 2, 2013 12:55 pm

Hello! I'm new and still pretty clueless. My home airport is SFO, though I fly SJC whenever possible to avoid delays. I don't fly a lot right now, but I hope to be going overseas more often in the future and I'd love to maximize the benefits in order to offset the annoyances.

Currently I'm an adjunct college professor (=no extra money, no spare time, and no choice in when I have time off :/ ). I worked as an agent at a high-end travel company in SF a few years ago, but unfortunately my knowledge is all outdated. I didn't stick around too long, because getting yelled at by people who are booking $5000/night rooms in Indonesia wasn't really my cup of tea.

I'm looking forward to experiencing SQ next month for the first time. I'm also a little apprehensive because I need to not sleep on the flights, but I'll manage. Currently, I have a comparatively tiny (but big to me) stash of FF miles with AA, but I'm sort of over them and will probably continue with *A after I use up the miles.

I love how informative the forum is, even if many of the posts seem like they're written in another language. I hope that someday it will all make sense to me.

(By the way, I was born in Missouri and used to live in Arkansas, so tbeeson58's post made me smile.)

A way to perhaps help is to go to the top of the page where the HELP drop down is, you'll find resources to lend a hand, including a glossary:

sure thing!

& don't fear to ask anything on the boards, there will be snarks who will say "do a search" or "this has been covered before". Don't worry about it, if you've tried to find an answer & just can't do so, ask away^
