Hi, I was born in the USA but lived in Asia and Africa, with short stints in Europe.

Many thanks to everyone who unknowingly gave me such good advice over the years I was just a lurker here.

Quick Intro

Just want to say hello and happy new year to everyone.

I've visited the forum off and on for several years, often finding very useful tidbits. For various reasons, I was a reader not a writer on the forums - and this is my very first post. A huge, huge thanks goes out to all of you for your shared wisdom and experiences. Seriously, I appreciate it. Maybe this year I'll start posting now and then to give back to the group.

I'm from the US but have lived in Europe (Italy and Germany) for over a decade. I was previously AZ FA (ST Elite+) for several years. I'm currently LH Sen (*A Gold) although that's about to expire since I'm currently traveling a bit less annually than I did there for a few years.

I probably won't be able to reach AZ FA or LH Sen this year, so I'm considering other options for 2011. Mostly likely, I'm going to go for *A Gold on either Aegean or Asiana for the easier qualification. I'm leaning toward Asiana but haven't quite decided yet.

Anyway, nice to meet you all. See you on the forums!

Hi Everydog - I've been a lurker on the forums too, but thinking of being more active. Maybe I'll see you around!

Happy New Year! Just joined after lurking for the past 5+ years. A little slow here in Charlotte, North Carolina USA. FlyerTalk is amazing and a wealth of information.
Anyways, I never traveled much and never had status until 5+ years ago. Since then, I maintain Chairmans on US Air and Platinum on Delta due to the travels to Europe and Asia for work - I am an accountant specializing in tax for a US based conglomerate.
I look forward to meeting everyone on the road. Safe travels.

Hi

Only just started recently on this forum, still got lots to catch up on, I am sure 2011 will be the most rewarding with all the advice and help on offer.

45yo from Scotland, mostly travel within the UK on business and further a field for vacation.

While going through my old Conde Nast magazines came across the great article on Flyertalk and had to sign up. My family and I travel from Calgary Alberta to Victoria BC about 6 times a year but am hoping I can find some way for the points to add up.

Hey everybody! My name's Brandon and I found out about this site thru a bunch of FF's on the wineberserker forum.

I live in Atlanta and my company merged with a company in Houston, so I'm basically flying like a consultant between Houston and Atlanta for the next six months playing a transitional role and I want to max out my Delta FF miles & Marriott points. I can fly out of Houston to anywhere I want(doesn't have to be ATL) basically for less than $500, so I'm planning on hitting up Napa & Vegas a fair amount. Thanks and I look forward to exploring the forums.

Brad in Seattle

Hi All,

I'm Brad, 26 residing in Seattle.

I fell upon FT thanks to fellow FT Pat with lots of numbers ;)

I met Pat on a flight from ORD to SEA and she encouraged me to check out FT. I lurked for a while and finally figured I might as well contribute (or at least keep the guru's busy with ?s)

I time road-races and triathlons and travel mostly for work, although did my first MR in Dec. and planning on more in 2011.

who I am

I am returning to flyer talk after years of absence. I am a physician who travels a lot both domestically and internationally. My main airline is Continental and both my wife and I are Platinum Elites. Needless to say the merger of CO and UA has us very concerned. We do not see how the new airline will provide the same level of service which we have received on CO.

This is not to knock the old UA. However, they have had their problems and morale is not the best. If you have unhappy employees, you will not have the best service. Only time will tell. Fortunately, there is always WN domestically.

Belated introduction for my 105th post

Hi. My name's Rob, and I live with my wife and daughter about four miles from National Airport. That and my job (newspaper tech columnist) should explain my username here.

My introduction to frequent flying came late in high school, when my dad got a job overseas. Our family's temporary relocation led to a series of EWR-ORY runs that quickly earned me status on CO, back when that usually guaranteed upgrades on domestic itineraries. I had no idea how good I had it.

And then... nothing. The usual post-collegiate poverty ensured my status ran out (although the miles persisted, allowing me to cash most of them in on F upgrades for Mrs. DCA Writer and I on our honeymoon), and I stopped putting much effort into picking flights.

Sometime early in the past decade, however, my friend tailfins started talking about this site where frequent travelers exchanged tips about how to play the FF game smarter. After the third or fourth sales pitch, I checked out FlyerTalk, then kept reading. After a few years of lurking and learning, I opened an account.

It's now been some 35 years since I can first remember being on a plane (I think it was a 737 to CLE), and in that time I've flown on at least 29 airlines and in or out of 73 airports. I still enjoy flying, notwithstanding airport inconveniences, and continue to hog the window seat. Especially if it's an approach or departure at DCA.

Scanner Lady Nancy Jan 5, 2011 1:02 pm

Hi, my name is Scanner Lady Nancy. I work for an employee benefits firm as an administrative assistant. I scan the incoming mail, and I scan copies of outgoing mail.

I'm starting to hate my job, though, because my witch boss is making me do the work of people who recently quit -- stuff that is a lot more complicated than scanning. Oddly enough, I think she forgot to give me a raise accordingly

But, I do enjoy flying back home to Illinois every couple of months on Delta to visit family. :)

vincentb89 Jan 5, 2011 3:39 pm

Hi

I'm Vincentb89, 21 years old, living in Paris ( France not Illinois;) ). What to say : I'm a student / civil servant studying economics / law.
Apart from traveling really often (especially to the US), I do love simple but necessary things such as reading books, listening to music and everything else that diverts me from working

I've been a lurker for 3 years but I'll be happy to help anyone who needs advice about my area of expertise, the city of Paris ( so PM me if advice needed I'll be glad to help !)
