Hello everyone!
Like another recent poster mentioned, I found out about this community through Fatwallet for the Luxury Hotels of the World promotion. Did not score a room but congrats to everyone who did. I live in PHL but have flown out of LGA and EWR for international flights. As much as I love to travel, I actually hate to fly. It's gotten progressively worse since the SwissAir crash ten years ago, but I still muster up enough to get me through the flight. In the future I'd love to do a course to assist people who have a fear of flying. I've not had employment that required travel, so my flights/vacation stays are all leisure. Have finished traveling for the year, short 3 day Bahamas cruise and another trip to Orlando. Next year my trips will be a convention in New Orleans and a trip to Paris. This year I've been introduced to the world of Airport VIP clubs via Priority Pass thanks to the CitiAmex deal. I love them! Am also interested in staying in some luxury hotels during my travels. I don't travel nearly enough to ever have the awards levels that many of you have, but will take advantage of whatever promos apply to me. So many great parts to this forum but especially love the credit card forums. Take care everyone! |
Dear scentcrazy--welcome to FT:) BTW there are some virtual reality programs available to get over the fear of flying. If you want PM me and I'll provide you some further info.

Hello,
Pat from Atlanta, GA. We fly Delta. We like to use miles for trips to Europe, business class. Thanks for the info on the site. Our next trip is to FRA on Delta/Northwest BE. |
Me
As requested, a bit about me. Geoff Arnold (hence the unimaginative handle), expat Brit, moderately frequent flier, blogger, aviation enthusiast (but not pilot - I've watched people bankrupt themselves that way). I worked for a computer company for 20 years that saw me regularly making UA 1K; then I moved to Seattle and did rather less travel. I've just joined a Chinese company which means that I'm going to be racking up SFO-HKG miles at an alarming rate (but NOT on CX, thank you very much!)

Hi there,
My name is Mordy. What a great resource these forums are. I'm a consultant in the high-tech industry, mainly around Adobe software and electronic publishing. My claim to fame is that I was one of the 5 winners of the American Way Magazine Road Warriors MVP contest in 2006. I hope to be able to contribute and learn here. :) Mordy |

hi there....i am 65, retired and live on top of a mtn in western nc....i was taking several intl. trips per year both independently and on tours as a single. i am getting married on 10/24 and we will take 4 honeymoons. curucao, costa rica, tunisia and west coast via rail.
most of my trips are on united or american miles but i consistantly over pay on lodging. i have had free nights at choice hotels and marriott properties.i have admired the australians and assorted other nationalities that seem to find much better lodging deals, from monastaries, to guest houses to freebee hotel deals. my goal is to travel much like the frugal travel guy. i have the time, patience and enough good credit and resources to make it happen. i will share what i learn. best to all. happy trails. |

Hi everyone!
I discovered this site a couple of months ago when I had several questions about an up-coming trip to the US. When I tapped each of my (somewhat obscure I thought) queries into Google, it brought up an FT thread with the answer! Ever since then I’ve been addicted and enjoy observing the many animated debates and picking up tips from the wealth of collective knowledge here. I’m a Brit who now lives in the Balearic Islands. You’re most likely to bump into me flying domestic around Spain on IB or going back “home” on BA into LHR / LGW. My latest hobby is collecting miles so I see I’m in good company here! I’m not very good at spending miles though; in fact I’m yet to make a reward booking, preferring instead to save them for a rainy day “just in case”. My passions include web design, fine dining and most things which involve the sea (boating, scuba or just going to the beach). I try not to travel anywhere in August so I can enjoy the latter. I’ve got to know all of the Balearic Islands quite well during my several years living here and would be delighted to share some suggestions / ideas / tips to anyone looking to make the most out of a visit here! Ok, nearly a member for a year and it seemed I missed this topic so better late then never:
Hi, My name is Stijn, I'm a 30yo guy living in Belgium (you know, one of those tiny little countries in Europe (and no Belgium is NOT the capital of Brussels, it's the other way ;)). I'm single (to busy to find a girlfriend :() I speak 3 languages and understand 3 others. I'm an assistant fleetmanager in one of Belgian's largest companies involved in landscaping, green area maintenance and road construction and this for about 7 years now. Before I worked a couple of years for one of the 10 biggest heavy haul companies worldwide. Besides being an assistant fleetmanager I'm also the president of a large non profit organisation (+10.000 members) for emergency personnel called "First-Response". We "operate" a online discussion board and an informational website. We also organise visits to emergency services, companies, hospitals, etc... in order to give our members the oppurtunity to learn something from other services. As a new feature we will start organizing trips to foreign countries where members can experience the life of the emergency services in other countries. Our first trip will be in a couple of months when we leave with 9 participants and 2 guides from our organisation to the fire department of Dallas,TX in the USA where we will stay for a week to learn about their ways of handling emergencies. After this week we will spend some time in Texas (1 week) to give the participants the change to learn about the country. I'm also a firephotographer for some fire & police departments in my area. Also this is complete voluntary just like running the non profit organisation. On rare occasions I'm also a press photographer as a replacement for a collegue I'm working with. And if there is some spare time left I like to take pictures on concerts or motorsport events. Just as a hobby or as a service to people I know. My hobby's are mostly my work, the non profit organisation, the firephotography and attending concerts. But also travelling... On the little free time left I like to jump on a plane an fly thousands of miles to spend some time on another continent. Mostly just for a couple of days... Far away from the daily stress... I don't need 2 weeks of holiday but I do like some occasional free time for only a couple of days. Just enough to reload the batteries. Concerning FT: I'm was "lurking" this site for many years untill finally I decided to register last year. I like to participate once in a while but I'm still reading most of the time ;) Greetz, Stijn (aka Bralo20) PS Didn't took the time to read everything I've written, my appologies for any big mistakes towards grammar ;) |

I think you've picked the best day of the year to get married, though one could argue i'm biased as it's also my birthday ;) |
Intro...
Hi Travelers,
Just a quick intro about me. My name is Bao and the GF and I love to travel as much as our $$ allows us to. I'm located just outside Boston, Ma and have been here for about 30 years. I work for a small tech company...I spent a few years in the Marines when I was younger and was stationed on Okinawa for 12 months (that was cool)..besides that nothing really special here..just a simple guy who enjoys the simple things in life. ^ Thanks for having me and I hope I get to meet some of you in my travels, Bao |
I'm Kristen. I'm originally from South Carolina, but I got lucky and I'm living in Hawaii at the moment. I work for the US Coast Guard and I go to school at the University of Hawaii. I do some freelance photography as well.
I love to travel, whether its a last minute road trip or flying around the world. My dad is a pilot, so I grew up loving to fly. I'm also a huge football fan...both English and American. I've been known to plan my travel so that I can squeeze in a football game before I leave... |
