Couldn't watch the NZ/SA match... WHAT happened to the Springboks??? (I figured the All Blacks would win, but???)

Since, I'm on the road with NO COVERAGE of games, an update of QF3 and QF4 would be nice (France/Ireland) and (England/Wales)

willyroo Nov 9, 2003 4:33 pm

England 28 Wales 17. The Welsh boys played the poms to an inch of their lives, then took their foot off in the second half.

France 43 Ireland 21.

I'm tipping France to win this RWC. What a backline!

I got laughed at when suggesting that France would take it.. (I'm a France supporter as you know..)

Ouch! Well, I guess Ireland isn't ranked 3rd or 4th anymore?

Wales played a blinder!

Jenbel Nov 10, 2003 8:04 am

They certainly did. Not sure what my hotel room neighbours thought of me screaming on the Welsh, and I nearly didn't make it to Dim Sum http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

ajamieson, was a pleasure to get you the unobtainable tickets....it's not what you know!!

Loved your seat at the 2QF, watching Aust beat the Scots and SMS'ing you - knew that you wouldn't be missing it over there, even if it was in the morning.

Off to SYD Thursday PM and then SIN Friday PM, will probably miss this weekends action http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

And what action! Glad I'm not in the Land of the Long Black Shroud today. Ouch!

Loved this quote from a fan: "I was sick in my stomach and kept wanting to jump up and down. This is the only time I will ever hug an Englishman."

Now it would be childish and mean-spirited to support the French against England tomorrow, wouldn't it. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Saturday: Australia 22, New Zealand 10
Sunday: England 24, France 7

The headline in one of NZ's newspapers (from www.afr.com ):

The End of the World!

And if Australia can keep the penalty count down, they're going to win the World Cup Final on Saturday 22 November - One Last Giant for the Wallabies.

And I'll be in soggy England for that final... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

ajamieson, in Dundee on the night of 27 November.

ajamieson Nov 16, 2003 6:00 pm

It all went wrong this weekend. Oh, well.

Did someone say "rugby" and "cup" in the same subject line? AJ?

Well - what a night Saturday will be. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif

Not sure who is around Sydney later week, but if you are, and are not 100% tied into Rugby commitments on FRIDAY 21st, thought I'd mention Tom911 from SFO is in town that evening on his ELEVENTH vacation down here.

We will be grabbing a few beers and something to eat that evening. Anywhere will be fine with us. Perhaps add a note to this thread if you are about and are up for joining in:

I stepped off a plane from a Washington FT Doo a few hours ago and in a week and a half in the USA and Caribbean did not read about Rugby World Cup once. (Heard about Kobe Bryant several million times however. :rolleyes http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Had to ask the customs clerk here how the ozzies had done and who was in the final. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Well it is less than 4 hours to kick off, and I am about to take my son to the match. To all FT'ers who have been able to see some of the games, and to those sitting down to watch around the world, I hope it is an enthralling contest.
Enjoy! John.
