My cell phone (Nextel) works in SIN, but, sadly we had to change our trip to later in the month as we both developed conflicting work interests.
Darn I would like to win that lottery.

This is what happens when you book trips in March (2002) for the following January (2003)...Conference Championships
Sunday, Jan. 19
NFC Championship Game, 3:00 pm on FOX
AFC Championship Game, 6:30 pm on CBS
(I'm lamenting missing the games; clearly the Raiders won't make it this far so mjm has nothing to worry about.
)Oh well, at least I didn't choose the following weekend.
Not that any Superbowl could be as exciting as last year's.

Based on the experience of a few FT gatherings, my money is on somebody being willing to grab a cold one or few.
In fact I would be willing to commit to clinking glasses with you after you make it into town. We may set a late night rendezvous down on the Quay or similar and then see where or what people are into for post midnight consumption. I shall be available to take people to Lau Pa Sat, but it might be fun to whet our appetites on the Quay first.

It (as if there were any question of which game I were talking about) should be able
to be seen on ESPN on Monday 7:30 a.m. (SIN time). ESPN plays with its schedule a lot in SE Asia so it is not guaranteed to not be tape delayed, but with a little luck...
Now if you are on the flight out Monday morning like I am we will both be in the same boat, err.........plane.

rbernheim,
Your name and data are now uploaded onto the page. Glad to have you aboard sir.
I have also made a minor adjustment to the Dinner Plans page to clearly identify regular dinner form late night, late arrival food court munchies. I will further update this to include rendezvous details for late arrivals and RCC meetings. Hopefully by the end of the weekend.
Is it January yet?

So I was in HKG for the Raiders game, and London for the Superbowl. Tough finding places to watch the games.

MJM,
Lau Pa Sat it is.
Curious, what time is the UDMC open till?
the dinner plans for earlier in the night have me jonesen for a chili crab (and pepper crab)
thanks for the shower offer, but I will leave myself enough time to shower AND lie down for 30 minutes in dark/quiet at the Conrad.
Flight to HKG leaves at 6:50am, so I figure I can leave the Conrad at 5:15am via taxi.

Sweet Willie,
Hmmmm...., UDMC,? I thought it was the U.K. (obscure Pistols referernce)
Not sure, but you will find a multitude of exotic and delicious things at Lau Pa Sat. Cannot guarantee crabs at Lau Pa Sat, but I would not be terribly surprised. I am sure we'll find plenty of spicy seafood though. Lots to try in this SE Asian crossroads.

I am 90% sure that there were chili crabs at Lau Pa Sat at night. If not, Forum Seafood is open until 1 am-ish and there is where I have gotten my fix during my last two overnight SIN turns... a mere four blocks away from Lau Pa Sat on Boat Quay.

I'll be in SIN during that time, so mark me down for the dining festivities.
They have a grreat restaurant on the top of the Swiss hotel (70th floor or something) if you're still looking for a spot for Sat night.
Arriving from HKG on Jan 12, leaving for HKG on Feb 12. I doubt I'll see many of you on my flights

seanthepilot,
I have added your name to the Dinner Plans page. Welcome aboard sir and we shall see you there. I was however quite sure that the next SEA in which I would see you would have been SEAttle rather than SE Asia.

Mr. & Mrs. "Goodknight" coming via HNL=NRT-SIN ( UA#881 arrives Jan. 17th) It's a "Q" fare, they say not upgradeable with miles..Sooo, us 1P's will be in "steerage" or "behind the curtain" as MAULD sez...Hopefully, the "do" will compensate for the bad ride..Then, it should be the Conrad 'til Jan 22...Say what, when, where.....name tags? Okay, I'm a SIN virgin (boy, does that sound wrong or what?), but I am serious thinking about giving this a shot.
But I am having no luck so far spotting a reasonable fare on either AA or NW (I'd be willing to fly either, although I think I'd prefer to fly NW). I'm an NW newbie and haven't got all the tricks down on routing, I think. Or have all the cheap fares gone away? I've been trying to depart on 1/15 and 1/16 and return on 1/20.
Thanks!
Steve

When I was new, I found to just find a res agent on the phone was the best help. hey are the pros (sometimes).
Call and tell 'em you want to go for this weekend, but dates are flexible. If they find something for you put it on hold.
That's when the brainstorming begins. Now what if I change this. What if I change that. Without changing what I have, if I tried to connect through here, what would happen to the fare.
Until it's best you can.
Remember the FT mantra.... if the agent can't/won't be of assistance, politely say thank you, hang up, try again1

The website is now updated to welcome goodknight and his wife to the run to SIN. Two more to make the party a bit merrier. Nice one, la. (SIN speak = appending "La" to everything)
Additionally, I have added sllevin to the W/L status list at the top of the page. Good luck with the fares, but I imagine somebody here or on the NW forum will be very able to help you take the luck factor out and assist you in grabbing a good fare.
Looking good............
