Seattle sightseeing?

Hi everyone,

I'm going to have an 8-hour layover in Seattle on June 20 and I was wondering if any of you Seattle natives might want to take me on a little walking tour somewhere, grab some coffee, see the sights, etc.
Or perhaps someone else is traveling to Seattle and might want to join me on an adventure?

Hope to hear from you soon!

I'm sure I'm not the only guy here who clicked on that link hoping to see a picture!

I think you will find a good group of native FTers in SEA-- one/some of whom will undoubtedly help you out-- although none of them as good looking as myself. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Well, you've just eliminated the two best SEA hostesses. . .missydarlin and myself! Chex is your man. Enjoy the Emerald City - it is spectacularly gorgeous right now.

Hi there!

I'm open to hostesses as well - doing "girl stuff" would be fun also. I only mentioned the single thing to see if anyone was listening. <grin>

And kanebear, I think the link to the pic is fixed. Thanks for the tip!

As with all people who announce a trip through the Emerald City, I will check w/ my Personal Assistant for my availability. What time of day will you be stuck in our lovely city?

I should be there by noon and will be 'stuck' in Seattle until about 9 pm. Plenty of time to go sightseeing and have some fun.

Do you really have a Personal Assistant? Go you! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Just so you know, the pix on Chexy's site are kinda old. this is more recent.

Punki Jun 13, 2002 8:33 am

Being ordinary working folks, we are busy all afternoon, but would love to hook up for maybe an early dinner (like 6 ish) Thursday evening. Anybody else interested?

If nobody else can spring free for the afternoon, BelleissimAA, I will be more than happy to pick you up at the airport at noon, grab a quick bite of lunch if you would like, drop you off downtown so you can wander around enjoying our lovely city and then pick you up again around 6 p.m. so we can meet up with others for dinner.

That would be great! I'd really appreciate it. And dinner sounds great - the more the merrier! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Email me if you like and we can discuss more details. Thanks!

Ive heard wonderfull things about TN in general and Nashville in particular. Isnt Nashville the capital of country music? I always enjoy the funny looks I get from my American friends when I tell them I like country music... (not many fans on country here in New York)... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Chex-dude, come on man!

Time to edit my list of (5) FT'ers I most want to meet... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

1-Free-Dude... please relax. My PA is trying to rearrange some unnecessary appointments. It is looking like I will be available next thursday.

Idea for dinner: go to WILD GINGER!

I went there with my boyfriend and it was awesome, so much so that he missed his flight!

Gaucho....

I love country music, and have gone to many-a concert alone because none of my friends will join me.

Punki/BellAA...I should be free for a quick lunch bite that day. Just let me know when and where.

Ohhh YES! The bar is awesome as well... MASSIVE Mango daquaris. The Mojito wasn't up to scratch though but the bartender is the best guy. I know this thanks to LDSANT and MissyD who IMHO are the best FT Tourguides around.

Still not sure of the time of your visit, BellissimAA but....

Being an ordinary unemployed stay-at-home dad (quite nicely married though), I'd offer a small bar-b-que on our deck which overlooks the Puget Sound, Punki/MissyD/Liz/whoever, if you guys want to cruise over here instead of going to some stuffy restaurant.

We're in West Seattle which is conveniently between the airport and downtown, and I could easily shuttle BellissimAA downtown so you could go back to be with the other ordinary working folk, Punki.

I have the nanny from 11-4pm so the kids will be under control during that time. And I'm a great cook. (though I may have a dentist appointment until 11am) I will have to check with my personal assistant to see what I am doing that morning.

Just thought I'd throw out something different. All SEA FT'ers would be welcome too!

lalala Jun 13, 2002 5:22 pm

Alright, gregseattle-
I'll take your nanny from 8 am -10:30 am M-F. I could use someone to get my morning children's (er dog's) needs taken care of. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Dinner/bbq sounds great. Can't do shopping or anything else, but I could bring a nice fruit tart(e). My arm could also be twisted to go somewhere like wild ginger, it shouldn't be too bad on a thursday.

lala

gregseattle Jun 13, 2002 5:57 pm

lala...

Dinner won't work at my crib, I don't think. Wild Ginger would be much beter for dinner than our house... and the sun is so scorching in late afternoon here it is almost too hot to be on the deck.

I can only offer a lunchtime/midday thing...but hey bring the dog over too!

If this doesn't work I will most likely throw up a mini SEA FT 'do' here sometime, as it looks like I will be missing the big event in August, unfortunately to go to a wedding that I have no interest in attending.

missydarlin Jun 13, 2002 6:14 pm

Greg- That sounds awesome! Pop me an email if you'd like me to bring something....homemade salsa, pasta salad, whatever..

Punki Jun 13, 2002 6:34 pm

Sounds way awesome to me. Can Hunki come? Should we let Chopped Liver Boy come? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Punki you got his attention!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

OK, Chexfan, you bring chopped liver boy. Of course, Punki you can bring Hunki, MissyD you can bring any yumyums you can create, and lala can bring the dog. ldsant??

I meant more like the barbeque will be small, the crowd can be large.

I guess we need to know when Punki's amazing shuttle service will be arriving from SEA-TAC.

More once we hear from the initiator of this whole madness......

Wow, so many fun choices! What to do, what to do.... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Having a little get-together sounds great - and yes, Punki, I'd love to have lunch with you around noon.

So, if I'm having lunch with Punki, then dinner with the gang, I guess I'll just do something solo in between. Someone can point me the right way and I should be fine.

Have we decided yet on anything definite for the evening?

Thanks so much for getting these plans together, everyone - you're great! And sorry it took me so long to write - today was quite hectic. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

The way I understand it is,

Hunki and I will pick BellissimAA up at the airport in my lavender van and take her to Greg's for lunch with all of us, Missy and Chex.

Chex will take BellissimAA for a tour after lunch? Or does BellissimAA want to hang around downtown alone and do Nordstrom type stuff?

We (whoever is interested) will meet at a determined spot for dinner, maybe someplace in close proximity to the airport.

BellissimAA will fly off into the night delighted at the wonderful, crazy people she has met in SEA and we will all be happy because we have made a new FlyerTalk firend.

The end. Which is also the beginning of the next segment. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

BellissimAA:

Let me add my welcome, in advance, to my new city! While I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting any of the Seattle-based FlyerTalkers (and I won't be available on June 20), I will tell you that I have the strong impression that this is one great group of folks you will be meeting!

What you are experiencing now (and what you no doubt will experience next week) reminds me of two occasions, when all I did was post my plans to visit a particular city and, within hours, my entire weekend (longer in one case) was planned for me. Such is the wonderful spirit of FlyerTalk!

I will always be grateful to kidpachinko (and "mrs kid") and mjm for their efforts to show me a great time on my whirlwind trip to Tokyo in December, 2000 (and thanks to AusTXHiker for allowing me to be part of his weekend with them). Then, last fall, I basked in the warm and gracious hospitality of Paul Palmer and his partner, Roy, who took excellent care of me in the Suffolk countryside.

Reading through this thread has reminded me of what I like best about FlyerTalk: the spirit of our members and their willingness to help each other. I know you will have a great time.

Best wishes,

Bill
