OK in Chicago.
It was eerie that there was no air traffic coming in to ORD yesterday late morning and on. Usually you can see 3-4 planes at any given time. God bless America. May the perpetrators of these acts be brought to swift justice. Mike |

I'm rethinking my original note: while things were so awful yesterday, today is a bit different in DC.
My office is a block from the (still standing) Capitol. And while most govt workers were sent home, our staff, being mainly emergency/essential workers stayed on the job and were in on schedule today. Walking across the Mall last night to the subway was odd. It was weird seeing fighter jets over the Smithsonians. And while it was almost empty in the morning, there were TOURISTS out by afternoon. Very good to see! We're on high security--there are also armed marshalls, police officers and guard members on most corners down here...though much lighter by 530 pm. At least on the corners I pass by. Still heavy around the White House and State. I believe my friends are safe, though one who works at the pentagon hasn't checked in. We're going positive and will presume he's one of those stayed last night til the wee hours and then came back early today and is walking the grounds. Another arrived home in one piece, but went to the hospital last night with some breathing problems. I'm with Essxjay---it's an exhausting time to be a reporter....or a rescue worker or volunteer. Safe as well at LAX.
I've posted this on the United board but also wanted to offer my help to anyone who needs assistance in the LA area. I'm on the ground here so if you need anything, please email me and we'll be in touch. Thoughts and prayers to everyone |
DC is a mess! I myself know many people who were directly connected with those on the plane and inside the Pentagon.
I work the attendance office (as an aide) for 1 period a day in my high school. I have lunch afterwards. I was forced to wrok 2 periods. Parents came in, got their students scheduel, came to me with their student, signed out and got a pass. I signed out 212 kids in 1 and a 1/2 hours. Kids were crying, parents were crying, some were yelling at me. I tried my hardest, and its funny how it affects us all. When I first heard, it sounded like a movie plot, when I first saw, it felt like it was going right through my heart. G-d rest their souls. I myself, and my family is ok, and I am glad to see most others are too, thank-you Premex! |

Stuck in SLC, but thankfully safe. I just got back from Tokyo Monday night, and was checking out of the hotel Tuesday morning to head to FLL, when I saw the news.

Safe and shocked in SAN. On the lookout in my schools for any students or staff needing someone to talk to about this horrible tragedy. So far, thankfully, no takers.
Anyone stranded in SAN, e-mail me if possible. |
