As much as I hate to do this, duty calls. A business meeting scheduled to take place on the 17th in SEA has been moved to the 19th. As I have friends there, I have elected to take advantage of the free air fare and spend the weekend in the Emerald City.

Therefore, I will not be able to make it to the upcoming SAN FT Get Together. Wish things could have worked out, as I was very much looking forward to meeting all of you in what is one of my favorite cities.

I will certainly keep my eyes peeled for other intriguing rendez-vous plans. Everyone have a blast in SAN!

I'm going to kick myself once you all start posting what a great time was had by all on the Monday after.

Has anyone thought about Brunch locations on Sunday? If not, I have a few suggestions.

The absolute hands down choice for great brunch would be The Parkhouse Eatery on 4th or 5th between Downtown and Hillcrest, but if there will be a large gathering (10+) I can't see it happening.

My wife says Humphrey's By the Bay would be a nice second choice. Located on the bay on Shelter Island... really nice place, with views of 1,000s of sailboats, and the food is great.

Another great choice would be the Hotel Del, but will no doubt be pricey, and we'll have to battle 1,000s of tourists for seats unless something could be arranged.

Hope this helps... if all else fails, maybe Windsock or the Shakespeare... anyone?

As fate might have it and due to scheduling conflicts, it is with deep regret that I will not be able to attend and participate in your fine SAN gathering. There's no doubt that a good time will be had by all.

Enjoy the great efforts and hospitality of the SAN team!

I discovered this site several months ago. This get together seems like a great opportunity to meet everyone. Please count me in! I will be arriving Friday late AM and departing Monday. I plan to attend the airport/tower tour and dinner at Prado (as well as the other events.) How do I make payment for dinner?

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

I don't know anything about S.D. restaurants, but in picking one for Sunday brunch, those who have early-afternoon flights out would appreciate a location near the airport.

AASweets, welcome to FlyerTalk! I am delighted that your inaugural post is to tell us you are going to join us in San Diego. I'll send you email with payment information for Saturday's dinner. It's easy - and free - to sign up for the airport/control tower tour. Just go to our website and fill out the form.

Anyone else on the fence about coming - join the fun. We've got room.

I'm still on the fence....

I was thinking of Fri. dinner at Rock Bottom, but Sat. I may be in LA with a friend from out of town.... are many people going to be at the Fri. event??

As far as other activities for Sunday, I wonder if people would be interested in going to the Tijuana Airport.... I've single-handedly tried to keep the AeroCalifornia forum afloat but maybe others would be interested in Mexican plane watching.

I posted info on the Tijuana Airport trans-border terminal and on Brown Field in the SAN forum, for people interested in airport happenings other than at Lindberg.

All downtown restaurants are near the airport, cruise terminal, Harbor, Marina, trolleys, and train station. Within walking distance!

Everything is downtown so to speak! Even the ZOO!

Am doing a quasi mileage run from LIT to LAX on 7/21-7/22 and just noticed the discussion thread re the SAN FT gathering the same weekend. Quelle chance! If it's not too late, count me in for the Prado feast and send payment info.

It all sounds like great fun. Sure wish I could be there for the airport & tower tours Fri., but c'est la vie. This will make my third FT rendezvous in the last month or so. Attended a Yankee game with "doc" in early June and had dinner in Paris with "felis" and "jouy31" a couple of weeks ago. Off to HOU this weekend for a wedding.

I thought I posted this message this afternoon but apparently it didn't "take" as I don't see it displayed on p. 7. So, I'll try again.

I'm planning to take a quasi mileage run from LIT-LAX on 7/21-22. And while scrooling thru FT.com I noticed the discussion thread about the upcoming SAN FT get together 7/20-22. Quelle chance!! Count me in! I can drive down from LA and at least attend the Prosido feast. So, if it's not too late, please send information regarding reservation/payment for the dinner.

This will be my third rendezvous with FT'ers in the last month or so. I visited with "doc" at a Yankee game in early June and had dinner in Paris with "felis" and "jouy31" just a couple of weeks ago. This weekend it's off to HOU for a wedding.
