Magic111 .. I emailed Tom911 and Kempis about a possible Art Gallery visit a few of us are already making, starting about 2pm Friday, meeting at our Hotel. As per a previous post, Museum Of Modern Art on Friday afternoon/evenings is not $10 but "pay what you wish". Not sure where you guys will be at that time, but if an Art Gallery sounds good to you or anyone else at a loose end Friday afternoon, please advise and lets see if we can do it as a small group. We will go on to Idlewild from there probably.

A dinner suggestion during your stay in NY. Or lunch for that matter.
If you like Italian food and want to eat in Little Italy, try Da Nico at 164 Mulberry Street. Located between Broome and Grand St. Phone 343-1212. They have great food. You must call as soon as possible to make a reservation. Prices are reasonable and very affordable.
The location is a 15-20 minute walk to Idlewild if you're going for drinks.
Zagat 21 $31.

If you have not committed to a hotel yet, there are several good deals in this weekend's click-it specials from Travel Web. The Russell Sheraton for $159 sounds like a great deal.

If this week's live bands are any indication, this is a perfect week for FTers to be meeting up in NY:
Thursday night @ Brownies in the East Village:
Fly Pan Am
(an offshoot of the Canadian band Godspeed You Black Emperor)
Saturday @ Bowery Ballroom on the Lower East Side:
Idlewild
(young Scottish pop/punk)
I like both bands quite a bit, but may not be able to make either (Duke basketball on thurday, Soft Boys reunion @ Irving Plaza on Saturday) :-(

Dhammer53's favorite museums.
Having trouble deciding which museum to go to? If you've already been to the MET and MOMA; or, if those two are a little bit stuffy for you
, try going to the following:
The NYC Subway Museum (in Brooklyn). Ask any token clerk for directions. It's a fast trip because it's downtown Brooklyn, right across the bridge. The show vintage NYC subway cars from past and present. Plan at at least 45 minutes. It's a lot of fun.
The Museum of the City of New York. This museum is on 5th ave and 102 (?) street. If you're interested in learning about old New York, this is the place to go. Last time I was there, they had a collection of old toys and dollhouses on display.
This museum is located on the northern end of Museum Mile. FYI, the Met Museum is located on 5th ave and 83 street.A short 20 minute walk away.
That walk along 5th ave is right next to Central Park. It's a nice place to spend some time hanging out and people watching.
AND, one block away on Madison Ave is all the fancy schmancy shops.
Hopefully it will be a nice day.....a little positive thinking here please.
See you Friday and Sat.
