I think we'd be fine with any of the suggestions.

I should be in for Friday evening dinner. Don't care where we go for dinner but after dinner I am planning on going to Crank & Boom Ice Cream Lounge (in the James E. Pepper Distillery complex) for alcohol, dessert, or alcoholic dessert:

I've always found Ramsey's a "meh" but will be happy to join everyone there if that's what the group picks.

There's no shame in dining at the same restaurant more than once on the same trip. While FTers may think of Stella's as just a brunch spot, I've been there for dinner a couple times and always enjoyed it.

I can't vouch for this place as I've not been there yet but a search on best farm to table restaurants in KY turned up this place in nearby Georgetown (15 minutes north of the Four Points) that looks intriguing:

And of course I will never pass up dinner at The Merrick Inn. True bourbon connoisseurs will love the bourbon list at the Merrick. Whenever I've been there they have had every expression of Pappy Van Winkle available as well as many other extremely hard to find whiskies.

Oh, and while it's not the best venue for our more casual crowd, I do recommend the Holly Hill Inn in nearby Midway, KY as an outstanding farm to table type restaurant that might appeal to "locavores."

There's also Heirloom on Midway's very charming main street that looks great (tried to get in there in April without a reservation but they were packed).

Final call if anyone is interested in joining Governator and me for some distillery tours on Saturday. We probably have space for one more, and will likely be heading west towards the Bardstown area for visits to Makers Mark and Heaven Hill.

I have no problem with Merrick, but Friday eve during Keeneland is going to be tough. Likely reserved up weeks ago.

There is "Suggins," which makes a pretty good Hot Brown and has things like fried banana peppers. http://www.suggins.com

Anybody else coming in Thursday?

PM coming today with more details about the DO.

Weather forecast looks decent. High Sat of 62 I think.

I have PMed everyone I think with info about the reception Sat. and my cell. If I missed you, please advise.

I am leery of trying to make reservations for dinner any night because the attendee count is fluid. They get quite peeved if you reserve for 10 and only 5 show up on a Keeneland weekend night.

These might give you some ideas for restaurants:

I like Chatham's as well as Ramsey's. Chatham's I am pretty sure does not take reservations.

My friend is part-owner of the "CCI," reputedly the oldest bar in LEX. Until being revitalized, this was a classic dive old-man bar. Still has some of the old male customers, but better beer now, more UK students, and a back patio. Live music sometimes.

At 5:30 pm on Friday, their Happy Hour special is they give you an extra of whatever is sitting in front of you at that moment. Pint of beer, 3 beers, pitcher, bourbon shot, anything.

It is just a couple doors from The Beer Trappe, a beer bar that specializes in the very good stuff. Named to "Top 100 Beer Bar in US" list soon after opening.

These two are good for a quick stop.

Interests

We will arrive in time for dinner Friday. We're at the 4 Points and open to any after dinner stuff. Saturday looking forward to the highlight of the DO which is the potluck. We're in for any horse farm event on any day. Keeneland either Saturday or Sunday, whenever the majority are going but would love breakfast at the track kitchen again. Sunday at Stella's for sure. I don't think we've been to Four Roses and would like to see it.

As much fun as this sounds, there's too much going on at home this weekend. I hope to join you guys in April. Have a great time.

Not going to be able to make it, alas, as I am thoroughly swamped for the next couple of weeks.

I have reserved a table for 6 at 8:15 at Merrick Inn tonight. Call my number I gave in that recent PM to get in on it. Can cancel or amend number of people.
