8/8 works for me too. And yes, Clarendon/Courthouse works very well.

Likewise--I've already got this on my calendar, so just tell me where to show up.

So, any venue suggestions from the Orange Line crowd?

What about Toscana Grill? It's right at the Courthouse Metro. The food is good (and cheap) and it is quiet enough to actually carry on a conversation.

Eh, I think we can do better. (Mrs. DCA writer works around the corner from there and doesn't think too highly of it.) I was going to suggest Fuego Cocina, in the spot formerly occupied by FT favorite Harry's, or Nam-Viet, which is pretty much the last surviving Vietnamese place in Clarendon.

Willow above Ballston metro? I would say it's among the best restaurants in Arlington and has a great bar now (great wine/beer and even mixed drinks). Their bar menu is oddly cheap considering the overall ambiance of the restaurant and really good.

+2 ^

We are staying at the Westin nearby and have penciled in Willow for one of the evenings that we are working in VA. We just did not know how convenient it was to the Metro for this group since we had planned to walk over and then stagger back, never needing to worry about how much wine we were consuming.

Given the 8/8 date, we should be eating Asian.... But Nam-Viet is closed for renovations next week.

I exaggerated slightly as it's a block away, but literally just one block. Metro is at technically 4230 N Fairfax Drive, Willow is at 4301 N Fairfax Drive.

Willow's good too! Been a while since I've been there myself.

I can't remember the last time we tried something in Ballston, so let's go with Willow (the fact that the restaurant offers discounted $2.50 parking has nothing to do with my decision, I promise! ).

How about drinks beginning around 6:30 pm, with dinner to follow around 7:00?

Depending on how many we have, I'll decide whether to try to book a reservation.

Who's in?

I suggest a reservation, as Willow seems that sort of place. Bear in mind that they have a mandatory 18% service charge for parties of 6 or more.

In that case, once I get a better handle on the numbers, I'll see what I can do.

Is there room for one more? I'm in town this week and Ballston is convenient. Would be great to meet other FTers!

Thanks!
