For any Baltimore-area folks, GW McLintock is going to be in town ~12:30p-6p on Sunday, so planning on meeting up with him and GrjApp probably starting somewhere near Penn Station.
kirkwoodj and GW McLintock like this.

I was going to recommend Brewers Art, but it appears they dont open until 4 on Sunday. Mount Vernon is a fun area, so you should be able to find plenty of other options around there.

Hokay - dropping in on the DC area next week (11/29/21-12/01/21):

Monday evening: BWI (preferred) / near DCA an option
Tuesday evening: IAD
Wednesday evening: flexible

Any interest in getting together?

Maybe Monday, depending on where. I'm flying off on Tuesday for a month of pet sitting in the UK

I've got a pretty light week. I could shoot up for drinks/dinner Tuesday if we firm something up.

Hi all,

I am going to be spending some time in DC in a couple weeks; it looks like I will be free on the following evenings:

Monday Dec 13
Tuesday Dec 14
Sunday Dec 19 (probably)
Monday Dec 20

If anyone here wants to get together on any of the above days for drinks and/or dinner, let me know. Alternatively, I should have a suite at the Grand Hyatt and would be happy to have a gathering there.

lots of stuff still in the wind, but my Air Force client-to-be has agreed to the most recent scope language for my work over the next 12-15 months … if all the contract/subcontract administrivia is on the glide path to final signatures by this Fri, I’ll propose traveling to DC that week to get started on the govt administrivia

I have a placeholder hotel reservation in Crystal City for that entire week; most likely arriving DCA Mon 13 morning and departing either Thurs 16 evening or Fri 17 mid-day

BWI: Was going to suggest Guinness Open Gate for Monday but it appears that the brewery and any associated food is currently only open Wednesday through Sunday.. If anyone has any other suggestions for either BWI or somewhere in Baltimore, I'm open otherwise...

For either Monday evening - or - Wednesday evening, wanted to suggest a meetup near one of Metro stations in Alexandria. I spotted a few interesting places such as Mason Social or Village Brauhaus but I'm not the local. Welcome any recommendations and/or preferences.

WRT Tuesday - as much as I'd like to entice CMK10 to fly up for the evening, I won't be able to get back over to near DCA on that night. If folks are interested and are around IAD, I was thinking of meeting at Jimmy's Old Tavern for drinks and then heading to Braza Steaks on Stakes (Venezuelan) - both of which will require automotive transportation. Or maybe these two options might get Charles up to IAD instead....

Anyway, just wanted to put those ideas out there for this week. Y'all are on your own for the folks coming in two weeks later.

David

Looking a bit further down the calendar, I'll be in town sometime in early Feb or so, exact dates TBD, but will be in northwest somewhere (Bethesda/Rockville-ish).

Assuming my international trip falls through, as now seems likely #thanksomicron I am a solid "maybe" for the 13th/14th of December.

Mason Social has an interesting drink menu, so sounds like a good choice. It also looks to be close to the Braddock Road metro station.

I am not keen on Village
Brauhaus. The Majestic is over that way and is good. But the King Street station has been a nightmare of pedestrian-hostile construction the last time I was there (admittedly some weeks ago).

If you're open to Pentagon City, I've been wanting to try Mattie& Eddie's, mostly because I always liked the previous restaurants Cathal Armstrong ran.

both Mason Social and Majestic are good … for a more casual option, there’s Lost Dog Cafe near Braddock Rd metro
