Good chance Ill make it for this year as well, but still a little too far in advance for me to know yet.
Also have a questions for those familiar: at the end of the last Do, I met someone whos involved with Hyatts Capital Gate hotel in Abu Dhabi, the one that leans out more than the Tower in Pisa. If I wanted to head there for a few days as part of the trip over, is there some form of public transport to get from DUB to AUD; bus, or such?

Thanks dede -- I'm okay with getting a guide if I can find one before I arrive. It'd be kinda fun to have others go with.
Part of the joy of the Emirates from a Traveler's Century Club country-bagging goal: each emirate counts separately on their country list, so there's seven quite close together.
I'm hoping to get to 75 countries by the end of the year so I can join as a provisional member.

Isn't it time we had a list of attendees? You know how it works - GOLD if you couldn't get enough last year and are back for some more, SILVER if you're all geared up for your first DXB Do (confirmed) and BLUE if you're still planning/ interested, but not yet confirmed.
Ok, I know there's iO too. If you're supplying the Dom, we'll put you down as one!
(I'm including people who have confirmed after the new and final dates were announced in the list. Let me know if I've missed you out)

Was just looking at the Park Hyatt site, hoping to see some sort of deal there similar to what was on last summer, but nothings been posted yet. Might write to them to ask; if I do, Ill post about any response.
Also, is there any public transportation way to get to Abu Dhabi other than cab or renting a car? Want to spend a day or 2 there, trying out that leaning Hyatt Capital Gate.

I wasn't planning on a separate hop to Abu Dhabi, though it could be done that way I suppose given that it's in the other direction. Maybe it'd be better to do the pre-day trip to Fujairah, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras al-Khaimah, and Umm al-Quwain and arrange a separate something a little later (maybe also on the 14th) to Abu Dhabi for those interested in just that part.
I'm looking at guide services now, but it's difficult to evaluate them this far abroad with no prior significant knowledge of the area.
