Update - 19-days to go...

Folks

I should have confirmation on the Airport tour tomorrow as well as an idea of what EK has in store for us. I will be using the email addresses you supplied via the Eventbrite registration to send you regular updates, and to also request a scanned copy of your passport (to satisfy the Dubai Airport Police).

As far as activities goes, I will be updating the first post, and we'll ask you to opt-in for the events you want to particpate in. Remember, nothing is compulsory. You can do all of them, or none of them.

There will however be a much stricter limit on this years events - due to the security issues within the airport and the EK's own space/resource availability. So if you haven't registered yet or know of someone who is still sitting on the fence, get a wriggle on. I won't be able to do anything once the limits have been reached - no matter how many times you wave your arms. Still room at brunch, but I'm already at the upper end of what the Dubai Airport will allow. EK, were going to have to sweet talk...

Ung1 will be co-ordinating the Desert Safari and the Top of the Burj visit. I'll be co-ordinating the SkiDubai visit and From NYC is arranging the pre-DXB visit to AUH.

One final thing. For those of you flying into DXB, we need you to do us a favour and do a Duty Free run. We'll be holding a private cocktail drinks one night at a secret location so we need your help in catering for the drinks. If in doubt what to bring, PM me and I'm sure I'll be able to suggest something

More to come.

I can't wait.

For the guys going to AUH anything decided yet during the day of the 14th? I might drive over if I finish my commitments early.

Thanks!

Thanks Simon. I'm happy to do a duty-free run before exiting DXB, but note that I arrive on Friday during the brunch. If you need the stuff sooner, best to go with someone else. Just let me know what is needed, and what my purchase limits are (customs-wise and price-wise).

Six Emirates In A Day Tour

Got this in my inbox this morning. I don't vouch for it in any way (as I never tried them) but thought I would share for those interested in touring the UAE.

I'm In

This will be my first international 'Do and I'm looking forward to it.

Still working out the logistics of where I'll be, which I hope to wrap up in the next few days, but consider me in. I'd be coming in late Thursday so I'd miss the Thursday welcome drinks.

For the Duty Free liquor run, can you share what day that'd be and what you need?

I'll probably be staying at the Hilton Dubai Creek, the Royal Meridien Beach Resort, and the Hilton next to the Royal Meridien....and I'll just taxi to wherever I need to go.

Airport Tour Update

Folks,

For those who have registered via EventBrite, you should have all received an email from me, with the download link to the Airport Security Clearance Form.

I need this completed, with a scanned copy of your passport, by Friday 01 June.

The Airport Police need time to process.

The tour is confirmed for SUNDAY, 17th June (time to be confirmed). As advised in the email, we will be having the EK and Airport events on the Sunday.

No cameras will be allowed. And once we reach the hard limit of 25 (we are at 23) there will be no further allowances made.

If you haven't yet registered, get a wriggle on. The registration details are here: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/3499490069

Please PM me or email me if you have any questions.

Things are coming together very nicely....

Cheers

SIMON

Wow, thanks! I've written the tour operator to see if the 14th is a possible date for that (as I have no other day I could do it).

For Saturday morning, I'd like to do the dune smashing.

For Sunday, I'll do the airport tour.

How much do I have to bribe someone to stop in the Frankfurt Airports Heinemann Duty Free store at the T1B Schengen Lounge???

I want a bottle of this and of course they only sell it there... Can any of our Lufthansa HON friends assit? I will make it worth your effort in Dubai and of course pay you back.

If anyone should struggle with the duty-free requirement, I have an alcohol license here so can buy from the state owned stores... prices are a little higher than DF but if all else fails.....
