Silly question from a newbie ...

Do these gifts have to be Flyertalk related? I've been a Secret Santa before, but I'm gathering that this FT version is different?

Meh It CAN but doesn't have to be. Usually the giftee will give the gifter an idea of what to buy. Hope this helps!

Hope I get someone soon, as with how slow the post is sometimes...will need to post mine by middle of November!
Some people have been known to meet up with other FT'ers headed elsewhere to have them send packages from their locations. Also, if delays are expected due to slow postal services, one can ask wharvey to let their recipients know that their presents were sent but may be delayed.

Not too different, no. The gifts don't have to be FT related, although they can be if you want. I'll usually look at the facts the person listed, and will usually read some of their posts to try to figure out what they like.

Last year, one of my Secret Santas not only sent presents for both Mr. Kipper and me, but also for my two kibblers, which was a very nice surprise and was greatly appreciated. I don't remember if I'd mentioned in my info that I had 2 dogs, or if they read some of my posts and saw that I had 2 dogs.

Gang,

Few things.

First, please ensure that you format your title correctly. It MUST include your handle.

I have had to send messages out to six people who did not do that... it is very important for my recordkeeping and message forwarding to have that info. I cannot have 100 messages in my Santa folder that all say "Secret Santa 2011".

Second, you can buy whatever gift you want. Some of the best gifts have had NOTHING to do with travel... I just ask that you put thought into your gift and the receipent will most likely be happy.

Third, are you out there recruiting more participants? We need more...

I'd do that, but I've had the same sig for ages and am quite fond of it.

You do know that you can use the multi-quote feature, and that you can edit your posts, rather than having several consecutive posts?
