Booked the Westin. I would be up for something the 26th.
Two ?s: 1. I know a few people have booked the Westin, did people find any benefit from going through travel sites? travelocity, hotels, O, etc.. I wasn't able to find more than a $5 price difference and so just booked mine through Westin 2. Can someone explain the significance of a Schengen & Non-Schengen area of WAW? I know what Schengen agreement is, but does that mean that there is border control to pass between these two areas of the airport? Thanks to answer the 2nd question, yea there is a passport checkpoint http://www.cph.dk/CPH/UK/MAIN/Before...d+Schengen.htm |
I'll be in WAW Wednesday 3/7/12 about noon. Two nights there and then flying to Bari, Italy for 7 nights (figured it would be warmer and more daylight there).
Back to WAW late Friday 3/16 for 2 nights and then departing at 1:30 pm Sunday 3/18. In AMS from Sunday 3:05 pm 3/18 - Monday 1:30 pm 3/19. Romelle |
Guys\Gals,
I've been searching for cheap and reliable transportation from the airport to the hotel by the central train station. I think I found a winner. One way ticket cost only $1 and it doesn't stop at regular bus stops, just in front of the hotels. It goes to the following hotels: Hotel Gromada / Airport Hotel Hotel Novotel / Business Garden Hotel Sobieski / Hotel Golden Tulip Hotel Marriott Holiday Inn / Intercontinental Hotel Polonia Palace / Hotel Novotel Centrum Hotel Jan III Sobieski and at the end to the Central Train station / Metro Centrum. http://www.warsawairporttransfer.pl/...mages/mapa.jpg For Westin people; I would get off at Intercontinental stop and walk 2 or 3 blocks on the same street (Aleja Jana Pawla II). Check if your hotel is listed Here is the link http://www.warsawairporttransfer.pl/ Taxi from the airport to the central train station cost between $30-$40. Rip off. If you don't speak Polish I wouldn't be surprised if they charge you $50. Always negotiate the rate :) If you have early AM departure out of WAW back to AMS or CDG I think you will have to take the taxi, but at least going to town you will save some money. The bus stop is near Terminal 2 and the bus departs at these hours: 09.03 , 10.34 , 12.05 , 13.27 , 14.58 , 16.29 , 18.00. Who is arriving on the 25th on KLM from AMS at noon? We can take the bus together. (BTW - I speak Polish) :) Hope this helps a little. |
I stayed in Hotel Jan II Sobieski last year. Had a very early departure. The hotel had a sign at the front desk saying they would book taxis to the airport. The fare was only something like $10 to $12. It is a very short distance, mostly quiet city streets and a little freeway.
Romelle Thanks to bwiadca for that info on the airport transfer though! I'll definitely use that for the inbound, as that is an entirely different situation than letting a hotel book for you. |
I will also let hotel book my taxi for the return part.
But I've been reading reviews on the net about taxis out of WAW airport and pretty much everybody is saying that the price is ridiculous. Also on the Marriott Warsaw webpage it says that taxi from the hotel to the airport cost around $25. |

As a side note, I've stayed at the Westin before. Great property. Not too long a walk from the main train station, though maybe more so in winter. A couple blocks away is a great pierogi/general Polish restaurant. Can't remember the name, but it was very good. Ask the concierge where it is.
So, 11/26 seems to be a popular departure date. Who's on KL1366 to AMS? PM me and we'll meet in the airport for a beer. |
Those FlyerTalk yellow and black luggage tags might help these meet-ups.
|
Where can someone acquire an FT luggage tag?
|
I got them from the FT store on this site, but they don't seem to be there anymore. There is a thread in Travel Products talking about where to get them.

Alright. So its gonna be 3 of us on the bus so far :) If we arrive early, we can catch the bus at noon, if we arrive on time we will have 1 hour to kill at the airport.
