I'm sure turkey can be done as I do a Thanksgiving dinner here in Krakow every year.
Pumpkin soup, salad, turkey will all the trimmings and some nice dessert
So it is possible to arrange :)

First MR to Europe. I've never been to Warsaw and am quite ecstatic about going!

Went in for two.

November 24 - 28

EWR (2:30 pm) - YYZ - AMS - WAW (Nov. 28, 7:00 AM) - CDG - YYZ - EWR

I guess I'm spending turkey day in the air. This should finish off my DL runs so I could finish the year off as gold (my first year to accrue skypesos). I believe I will be staying at the Westin for this trip.

2nd trip

January 26 - 29

JFK (12:35 pm) - YYZ - AMS - WAW (Jan 29, 6:15 am) - AMS - YYZ - JFK

Haven't booked a hotel yet, but this should be my first MR for the 2012 year.

Not too much, but WAW has a Schengen and non schengen area. As both are in the schengen part, the conx should be fast and easy.

I'm going to be there Nov25-28. Staying at Mercure Warsaw Grand.

jason8612 Sep 23, 2011 3:35 am

Hmm maybe there should be something planned on the 26th Nov? Looks like at least 6 FTers will be there.

bwiadca Sep 23, 2011 4:55 am

Here are my dates. Arriving in Warsaw on the 25th at noon.

Nov 24.
DCA-YUL AC
YUL-AMS KL
AMS-WAW KL

Nov 27.
WAW-AMS KL
AMS-YYZ KL
YYZ-DTW DL
DTW-DCA DL

I'll be staying ether at the tall Marriott in downtown by the central station or at the courtyard at the airport itself.

Just booked Marriott in downtown Warsaw. Only $166 for two nights (including taxes), and the location is pretty good.

Remember few things to eat while in Warsaw:
-Pierogi (ruskie and cabbage with mushrooms)
-Bigos (cabbage with real sausage served with mashed potatoes)
-Golabki (stuffed cabbage with meat, rice, mushrooms)
-Potato pancakes with Hungarian souse.
-Fried pork chop with potatoes and beat salad.

Soups:
-Zurek with sausage, beacon and hard boiled egg (white borsch).
-Barszcz czerwony with mini-pierogi with meat (red borsch).

And for the late night snack you should get Zapiekanka at the Central train station (toasted baguette with mushrooms and cheese).

These are MUST to eat items in Warsaw. That's a real taste of Poland right there :)

Booked the Westin. I would be up for something the 26th.

Two ?s:
1. I know a few people have booked the Westin, did people find any benefit from going through travel sites? travelocity, hotels, O, etc.. I wasn't able to find more than a $5 price difference and so just booked mine through Westin

2. Can someone explain the significance of a Schengen & Non-Schengen area of WAW? I know what Schengen agreement is, but does that mean that there is border control to pass between these two areas of the airport?

Thanks

As a side note, I've stayed at the Westin before. Great property. Not too long a walk from the main train station, though maybe more so in winter. A couple blocks away is a great pierogi/general Polish restaurant. Can't remember the name, but it was very good. Ask the concierge where it is.

So, 11/26 seems to be a popular departure date. Who's on KL1366 to AMS? PM me and we'll meet in the airport for a beer.
