And I am sure a hard working mod will oblige soon to amend it.

I'll be there, a bit more relaxed this time. Shouldn't this be OzFest #8?

There are few Business class seats between the east coast and DRW, more from SYD/BNE as there's a 763 daily to/from each.

Qantas sell them for ~AUD1500 each way (because they can).

There is still some limited award availability, but that's only available currently to BEAC and QFF members, AA and other oneworld can't access these until 330 days out.

Anyway, about Qantas "anyseat Awards/Rewards"

A year ago Qantas introduced "Any Seat" awards where program points ("Miles") could be used to book any available seat - normally the amount of miles/points required is massive compared to basic award booking classes.

It seems these were not popular, so to encourage use Qantas now give miles and status to those using these awards. Recently it has been noted that if there is award availability, these ASA's/ASR's can be not much different in cost to standard (classic) awards.

As to DRW? Currently, If you can garner ~72K Qantas Frequent Flyer points and AUD250 per PAX you can book business class from MEL via ADL/SYD/BNE - which we have done.

And we did - RBP's work best for title changes as well

I've also amended the font size in the opening post downwards on health and safety grounds. It was just a bit too glaring, and if we are as involved in this thread as in the last Do (which I echo chrissxb's statements on), I don't want to have to wear sunglasses just to access the thread

Best time to book depends on your means and desired travel cabin.

For Business class awards flights, the answer is ASAP.

kpc and +1 -----> platinum^

Addendum: Not as good as Serfty, but have taken his advice and booked our return in J from Drw to Syd via Adel on Tues 31st May for 72000 pts + $230 odd dollars [QF Any Seat award]. Should earn 140 SCs and around 5000 QF pts each. Didn't have enough pts to book the forward journey from Syd to Drw tho...will have to wait for a Syd-Drw sale and pay cash...
