Even w/ the map I know I'll get lost. Luckily boxo is at my hotel so I can follow her.

Cheers.

By the way there is a very good gelato shop in taksim; heading north to the Hyatt on the left hand side.

I'll have you know that I am now officially an international drug smuggler and high stakes gambler who can be identified by his expensive Swiss watch.

(Details are on TOBB in a trip report I just posted.)

Alas

After waiting for a good fare I gave up, so I won't be there. It's a great city so I know you'll all enjoy.

My first beer in Prague many years ago was at U Flecku, so I know you'll enjoy the beer.

Well, I think I'm in a mighty pickle (no puns intended).

My flight arriving into PRG pulls in at 1850h. Airport Express buses only leave 1904h and 1946h, and unless PRG has the easiest immigration and really quick baggage claim (yes, I will have a checked bag - I need it, get over it ), unlikely I'll make the first one.

It seems I won't have a chance to make the dinner before people disappear for the bar hopping (either that or I'll embarrass myself by eating last and everyone disappears anyway to go bar hopping). So apologies in advance for Friday night.

Unless anyone has a good idea of me getting to dinner in reasonable time? (Taxi not an option).

Hi anat0l,

This sounds like a real problem. Prague is a small airport but even with carry-on you wouldn't be able to make it in time as long as you don't consider a cab. My guess would be, you're at the Hilton around 08:00 pm -08:15 pm. From here you can walk to the venue (~30 min), take the metro or tram and walk a few more minutes (~ 15 min.). I'll send you a PM with further information, asap.

To all folks who are still on the "interested / maybe" list, may I please get a short reply so I can move you to "confirmed" or "won't be there" as I have to confirm the final number of attendees by 06/07/2011 [Czech time]. Thanx!

You could always text one of us or servus to find out where we are, if you miss dinner.

Cheers.

Do you have to go to the hotel first? It's 11 minutes on the metro from Dejvicka metro stop to Narodni Trida stop -- from there maybe 5 minute walk. It takes about 15 minutes to get to Dejvicka from the airport...take 119 bus to the end, you can get off and walk right down the steps.

30 minute walk from the Hilton to U Fleku? Not likely...

Just as an FYI, I (and a couple of others arriving at different times) arranged for limo pick-up from the airport. It worked out to be about 33 US dollars - pick-up and taken straight to hotel. With what servus said about cab drivers being a bit dodgy, this seemed a relatively simple and inexpensive solution. There are several companies listed ... I think I went with Prague Limousines.
that might afford you the ability to catch up.
Safe travels.

I'll be out of town this weekend, sorry to say, but happy to help with last minute advice...

BTW, if you have a nice evening and want a beer and a great view, check out Letna beer garden. Riegrovy Sady isn't bad either, although the nice view (of the castle) is not visible from the beer garden itself...you'd have to buy a beer at a store and take it or ask for a beer to go (sebou) from the beer garden...they'll give you a plastic cup.

Thank you for the PM, servus!

I've lost track who's arriving when, but if anyone going to Hilton Old Town or Marriott Friday 10:45am+ and has room in a car, please let me know!
