PEK T2
I'll be flying SHE-PEK in July with extra time in PEK before meeting a companion. Are there Priority Pass lounges that are accessible in T2 without an ongoing boarding pass?
The PP website shows two in "Terminal 2 International." If I'm terminating in Beijing are these accessible for a domestic arrival?
Maybe a few hours at the Airport Hilton will be needed!

1. Avail of the first flight that works you
2. Let your friend fend for himself
3. Meet your friend in Shanghai
4. The Hilton idea doesn't work wrt T2
While I'm not suggesting that hanging out in a t2 lounge is significantly inferior to doing the same at any random Starbucks, leaving should be your #1 priority.
Basically, if the 4p flight has a takeoff slot, and a seat for you, grab it! Your friend might end up hanging around t2 for 10 hours because his 7p flight doesn't leave until 3a, but there is no reason to put yourself in the same position.
Perhaps you could advise your friend to join our wechat group; collectively, we are pretty good at addressing travel related anxiety.

In this case, lounges probably won't be an option anyway, and the Hilton isn't close to t2, but there is a decent tea place there that I could endorse for a ~1.5 hour wait.

Hilton is near T3, perhaps too far for a walk. There are shuttles to T3 (and possibly T2).
If I am to kill some time, I would probably take the airport express to SanYuanQiao and have tea there.
Where is the place you recommend?

-The Hilton is walkable from T3, but a 15 minute taxi ride from T2
-The tea house in T2 is land side above the departures area (along with 5 other restaurants); it's honestly an okay place to kill time
-going to 三元桥 (and back) strikes me as a bad idea; either wait at the airport, or don't wait at the airport

I've never been to PEK T2, but my impression of Chinese airports is that, by design, if you are not connecting to another flight, you have no business staying in the airside part of the terminal. Instead, you are funneled straight to the exit upon deplaning. In other words, even if there is a domestic lounge, you won't be able to access it like the way we do in the U.S.

Not sure where that leaves me, but obviously the lounges won't work. Flying in from the US with fair amount of luggage, so in any case should pick that up ASAP.
Ended up transferring in SHE because of unexpected events. Maybe should just adjust SHE-PEK flight for later so I can go directly to meet companion in Chaoyang rather than wait at a tea house or Starbucks.
Thanks for the suggestions! Now I appreciate such outside-security PP lounges as the one at EWR!

Companion is working on difficult project and can't meet me early. Have now arranged my flight with later SHE departure. Can either go to city centre for the morning, or spend time in hotel and/or SHE lounge.
Thanks to everyone for advice.

This is your business, and the idea of chilling out in Shenyang seems okay, but I think your plan has serious flaws:
1. If your flight is delayed by 8 hours, do you expect your companion to wait for you?
2. We're only talking about $15 for a taxi; either of you are looking $5 for Starbucks
3. If your companion honestly requires a personal airport pickup in order to survive, he/she might not be a suitable companion

And if there are other reasons why that person nonetheless is a suitable companion, suggest shelling out $100 or so for a personal airport car/escort. And if the issue is really you (don't speak language, not super comfortable), then shell out that money for yourself.
