That's another big plus for Hong Kong, they have an immigration policy.
Can a place be really that great, when they don't even want you there?

I really don't know Beijing that well but does it have cities similar to Kunshan, Suzhou and Wuxi where people working in Shanghai tend to live and commute from and to?

Tianjin?

This might be a good place to stay on your next HK stint.

The worlds highest hotel, Ritz-Carlton Hotel, opened at the 118th floor of Hong Kongs International Commerce Centre (ICC), the worlds fourth tallest building, in May 2011

Are you serious?

HK is a very boring place. It only beats mainland cities in clean government.

Would love to hear what you like to do, since there's a lot to do here (more than just shop and do business deals).

Do you like history? HK has some solid museums and heritage areas/walks. Do you like the outdoors? HK has lots of options for hiking/sailing/and protected areas, not to mention some decent beaches. Actually most of HK's landmass is protected (which is one of the reasons its a densely populated city). Like politics? There's often some kind of activity going on. Like food? Go eat some dim sum or try one of HK's solid restaurants (I don't think HK has the world class restaurants that say, NYC/Tokyo/Paris do - though the food is generally good). Like getting out? Go to Macau or one of the outlying islands. Like unique neighborhoods? HK has plenty of them, as long as you are happy to walk around and explore. Want to get away? Shanghai, Taipei, Bangkok, Saigon and Hanoi are all within a three hour flight. Like shopping?

Will you find a theatre/arts scene like that in NYC/London? Sadly no. That I will concede.

Perhaps some of us can provide some ideas to make HK "less boring" on your next trip here. I often take friends in town for business on a hike or a day at the beach. It never fails to surprise them (for the better). I always hear "This is Hong Kong??"

hmmm interesting idea.

To be honest, I visited HK twice. Stayed at nice hotels facing Victoria harbor.

After that, about 30 times, after I got off plane at HKG, I took bus/ferry directly to Macau, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, etc.

Never bothered to visit downtown HK again.

Sounds like you've got some exploring to do (seriously) in HK. Just depends on your interests. Let us know (here or in the HK section). There is much more to HK than business/harbor views/shopping.

I'm also a big fan of Macau (I'm not a gambler). The lovely parts of the old town, portuguese architecture, the food, cleaner air, slower pace of life etc.. Lovely stuff.

Look, you only need one date to see that the girl you are dating is boring.

Unfortunately, most will in short order opt for that long term contract.

IMO, cannot compare but for sure

I hate Beijing cab drivers. Had a bad experience.

Shanghai's public transport is more expensive than Beijing
