It's one employee congratulating another for stealing something really great. Big wad of cash, a few iPads, etc.

Just finished TSA review this am and T-4 basically went into lock down for about 2 minutes. All TSA folks were yelling to each other "Bravo". What does it mean?? Everyone was told to freeze and not move. Yea I could have stopped and asked but my goal was to get to AC.

The person saying it is publicly announcing his or her approval of an exceptional theatrical performance. He or she may have also been looking for two minutes of applause.

Participation is obviously discretionary. Did you enjoy the performance?? ;)

I'm not sure that this is what they are looking for.

:D Oh, if only a 'flash mob' would hit the queue at the checkpoint!

No more illegal than when you say: "Stop! Don't take my belongings out of my sight!"

Since the screeners have no authority of detention, if more than 3-4 people continue walking (hearing impaired, non-English-speakers, earphone-distracted), they can't possibly call enough LEOs to stop them all.

I'd just keep walking. No requirement for the public to participate in THEIR training exercise if you're past the checkpoint, and you've been cleared to the sterile side, so there's no possible justification to call a terminal dump. I see no downside to ignoring them.

Besides, you also could be hustling off the nearest bathroom. They REALLY can't slow you down on such a critical mission. Just say: "No. Gotta pee!"

Now if an LEO says "freeze!", that would be an order I'd take under more serious advisement.

Whoa. Related TSA parody video on that page is this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXqMw...eature=related

which is disturbingly hilarious. A TSAH spanking on the rear a bent over man dressed as a woman with a metal detector wand. What on earth???

I have and did, and described it here. They will avidly threaten you, but just continue about your business. They will kind of go berserk but not touch you. After initially "threatening" to call a LEO they wouldn't, despite my requests.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trave...t-stories.html

I only slowed down when they said if I "exited the terminal" they would call for a terminal dump, and I was honestly a bit scared of a huge misunderstanding and getting killed (sounds ridiculous now, but when you have 4 blue shirts surrounding you screaming and you are walking quickly into a terminal, a cop coming on the scene might get the wrong idea.)

It is a really, really good thing TSA agents are not armed given their policies, skills, and personalities.

Exiting the terminal (in other words, reducing the perceived threat) would call for a terminal dump??

What planet are these guys from?

What Does it mean when TSA Yells "Bravo"?

It means you call out "Sierra", and continue what you were doing.

Not really illegal, since there is no law prohibiting them from yelling anything that enters their vacuous little heads. Now if you had asked about stupid, meaningless, idiotic or just plain comical, the answer would be different.
And it's BRAVO because that's as far as Pissy can get in the alphabet. So they can't yell "CHARLIE."

You know, upon careful consideration, a situation of a large crowd of people standing around silently for moronic reasons, just cries out for someone to make a very loud fart noise@:-):D to break up the silence. I am sure hilarity would ensue:D and it would be even more funny to see what the TSO's would threaten you with for making an unauthorized fart noise during their little quite game.:D

If they do make it to "CHARLIE", I suppose I'll need to update my response to "FOXTROT".

On a semi-related note, if they start yelling Bravo loud enough, it would be interesting if the "general public" paniced -- would they be held accountable like someone who yells "fire" in a theater when there is no fire only to watch the panic ensue?

It means that if you're running late and get stopped by this nonsense  and then get to your get just minutes after the boarding cutoff, you're gonna be SOL (and the TSA has succeeded in carrying out their threat of D-Y-W-T-F-T.)
