Chase's benefit terms include this misleading sentence:
Ultimate Rewards points are earned on The Edit stays. The exclusion applies only to $250 directly offset by the credit.
Any amount above $250 charged to your CSR earns 8x points.
You can split the payment for Edit bookings between cash and points - you can charge $250 to your CSR to get The Edit credit and cover the remaining balance with UR points at a rate of somewhere between 1.6 and 2 cpp. No points are earned when payment is done this way.
Any purchases that qualify for the $500 Credit for stays with The Edit will not earn points.

Disappointing to hear that you didn't receive any upgrade for any of your 3 stays. Would you care to share which properties those were?
With regard to the $300 discount mentioned, did you mean the $250 Edit credit or are you referring to having received your $300 travel credit against an Edit booking because it qualifies for that credit as well?

- Ritz Carlton Pentagon City (2x) - (Marriott Plat status)
- Intercon Barclay NYC (IC Plat status)
Now I suppose I could go through the drill of rejecting the room and insisting on a better one. But I should not have to do that as an Edit customer, assuming they value the business.
It's this last sentence that is exactly what all these guests are referring to when they rave about the FS service. You don't see that so much anymore with the high end brands from the chain hotels.
Of course, you also have an expectation that at that price level the hard product will be perfect too but service is equally as important, at least to me.

I'm not a fan of FS. Not bad but nothing ever spectacular - I find the chain hotels go extra mile for elites than 4S who treats everyone ok and might go farther for high paying guests.
I frankly don't understand why everyone raves about 4S and Rosewood. Never had a bad stay but never had an amazing one. Often get amazing ones at Hyatt and sometimes even Marriott
