Chase's benefit terms include this misleading sentence:

Any purchases that qualify for the $500 Credit for stays with The Edit will not earn points.
Ultimate Rewards points are earned on The Edit stays. The exclusion applies only to $250 directly offset by the credit.

Any amount above $250 charged to your CSR earns 8x points.

You can split the payment for Edit bookings between cash and points - you can charge $250 to your CSR to get The Edit credit and cover the remaining balance with UR points at a rate of somewhere between 1.6 and 2 cpp. No points are earned when payment is done this way.

I was giving serious thought to downgrading my Reserve to Sapphire next year before the New higher AF hits for me in April ; but being able to use this $250 credit end of 2025 may change my tune. The real value to the program is the points boost combination when available.
Without the points boost involved it is not as compelling.

Island Shangri-La is nice (I was afraid you were booking Sydney). In fact, I belonged to their hotel gym and frequently dined at Cafe Too while living in HK in the aughts. Enjoy your stay!

So I made a huge mistake.

I tried to make my first Edit booking. When I went to pay, it said I had a $500 credit available. I assumed that this was my Edit credit ($250 twice a year) and clicked to use it on my $200 stay at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

I realized a week later that the Edit benefit is a credit after the stay. It turned out that my $500 travel credit as part of my sign up bonus had been applied. I canceled the reservation and a $200 travel credit was issued back to me. So I’m down $300.

I called to see if they could reissue the credit and they said it was forfeited. They are going to escalate it to see if anything can be done.

I wonder how many others have made this same mistake.

That $500 from the SUB I believe needs to be used on a single booking. I don't know the exact terms but perhaps someone else that has it can post it here.

The $250 Edit benefit is not a credit after the stay. It's a credit that applies when you prepay any hotel that is part of The Edit collection to your CSR. If you applied your travel credit from the sign up bonus to your booking then nothing got charged to your card and no $250 can be credited.

Also the $250 twice a year at anytime only starts in 2026 and would need to be used on 2 separate bookings so I doubt it will show up as a $500 credit; it will show as $250 x 2. Right now it's still only $250 for the second half a year and shows up as such, definitely not as $500.

Yes you are correct with all of this. Unfortunately I learned the hard way with a $300 mistake.

As a datapoint, spoke to Hyatt Globalist line supervisor on an unrelated matter today. I asked if the Chase Edit Hotels were eligible rates like FNR, after a brief hold, she confirmed they were, but asked I call Hyatt to ensure our WOH number is applied to the Edit booking. Points, EQN, and status are applied to the stays. Glad they now have the Edit hotels on their list. They didn't a few months ago. I would still screenshot your Edit booking's that show WOH eligible should there ever be a dispute about it.

First Edit experience and about what was expected. No upgrade (except perhaps higher floor), breakfast as promised (did not include tips), $100 credit used at hotel restaurant. Checked in late and checked out early so didn't test that part. Staff did not even mention the perks until I asked about the upgrade and the inclusions, whereupon they found my "welcome letter." No worse or better than Amex in terms of treatment.

Did you provide your hotel loyalty number in the reservation to try to get any benefits related to your hotel status?

The Edit rate is the same non-member rate you can get on Hyatt site. I am a Hyatt globalist and just booked at a PH after comparing the rates. Virtuous has the same rate. You have to call Hyatt to add the Edit booking to your account, but they have to manually look up your reservations. The Hyatt number in my reservation never get transferred from Chase (I had to redo this same booking several times and had to call Hyatt every time!). They were able to do that since a couple of weeks ago.

So as a globalist I don’t get the full value of the $250 between the higher non-member rate and my free breakfast.

In addition, if you rebook you have to wait for the cancellation transaction “posted” (not while still pending) to your credit card before rebooking to get the Edit credit (you don’t have to wait for the credit meter refresh which is usually one day behind). The Edit $250 credit is tied to your posted credit card transaction. I rebooked while the cancellation is still pending and the $250 was not credited to the new booking so I had to redo it and thankfully the rate actually dropped in the meantime.

Not sure this has been posted before but although Chase now has a list of the hotels in the Edit program ; the actual hotels available for The Edit or for points boost varies based on your exact dates. In addition they will show as Sold Out sometimes for The Edit but the properties are not sold out on booking, expedia or for direct hotel websites.

Example:
The list now on Chase's website lists 12 options as The Edit properties in Bali - yet entering various dates over multiple weeks for the month of April 2026 I see only 5 as potential The Edit hotels with 2 of them saying sold out despite having plenty of availability elsewhere for the same dates.
The 3 available are $1000+ per night properties which for Bali is really high and these 3 are definitely in the top 5 cost wise out of the potential 12 they claim are in The Edit program.
April is not high season and looking on other booking engines I have not seen one property sold out over the dates I am looking at so Chase just is not offering all of the claimed 12 choices year round.

Chase has implemented a minimum price point formula for hotels to be included, actually the formula equates out to how much commission they will get off the booking vs. what it will cost them to pay the hotel for the extra benefits. I just learned on this working with clients on Monday, that own a large number of Hotels in the Marriott, Hyatt, and Hilton franchise systems (I know Hilton's are not part of it). This is far different than the 2 hotel programs Amex offers its clients. For example you could stay at a Hilton family hotel that is pretty equal compared to the JW Marriott (both 5 stars, amenities, finish, etc.) just down the street, The Conrad is part of the Amex program at sub $250 USD per night, but you can't get anything in the Marriott Family unless it hits $450 or more per night.... During high demand that JW Marriott when a normal room is $844 USD per night, it's available through the Edit, but when it's $228/nigh it's not. This program is not very often a real benefit from what I can see and gather. Also point redemptions have always worked out from credit card spend to be better with the Bonvoy Card than CSR points, generally 5 to 20% better, and I have searched over 50 potential bookings.

Yes. Alas as a Marriott Plat (and RC card) the perks are pretty minimal at Ritz (i.e. no breakfast), which is one benefit to booking The Edit. The points posted promptly.

Another note, it's between $20 less per night and $228 less per night for most of the properties (Including Ritz/Marriott, Sofitel, 4 Seasons, Hyatts) per night through the Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts in SE Asia and in Mexico City. I think this is probably this way globally.
